Donkey Kong Game Boy FAQ Ver. 1.0(8/28/00) Written by Mordruk INDEX 1-Contacting 2-General Hints 3-Level Strategies 4-Copyright and Thankyou Stuff ======== 1-Contacting ======== I have tried to be as simple but as complete as possible with the walkthroughs of all the levels of Donkey Kong for Game Boy. However, I am only human so I must have made some mistakes somewhere in this. I would like to fix it for any other versions of this that I may write so if you find any major mistakes please E-Mail me at Mordruk@hotmail.com. If you have Yahoo Messenger I am usually on as thedeathwizard. But E- Mail works the best for me:) When I say major mistakes it shouldn't be that I mispelled a word or it takes 3 hits instead of 2 to kill something. It should be a mistake that would keep the player from completing that level. Any comments on this FAQ are welcomed always and any ideas for another version of this are also welcome. I know there are MANY ways to complete these levels so mine might not be the easiest. If you find a strategy that is easier than mine E-Mail me the strategy and the level. I will post it in any updates and give you credit. Again you can contact me at Mordruk@hotmail.com if you have anything to say. ======== 2-General Hints ======== If you are just looking for some little nudges to help you in this game and not a solution then this is a good section to look in. These are some of the general stuff that I found helped me a lot through the game. First of all, never give up with the level. If a level is giving you a hard time try to look at it differently. One of the hardest levels that I barely beat the night I got the game turned out to be the easiest once an 8 year old that had never played it beat the level on his first try. If you really get stuck or have a short patiance like me then use this FAQ.(that's what it is for) Another good thing is when you first start out try to collect the 3 bonus items to get a bonus level. I found the game much easier when you don't have to worry about lives. When I got to the last level I had 93 lives so I didn't worry about losing the game. I found that in the beginning levels when you see Donkey Kong run to the next part of the game it shows Donkey Kond trying to stop Mario some way but Mario does something to get around it. What he does is usually the main idea of that whole level or you will need to do that to pass the stages. However, in the ending levels the stuff Mario does becomes less important and chances are you already figured out how to use that trick in the previous levels. I hope these hints helped at least a little bit and I didn't confuse too many people. ======== 3-Level Strategies ======== This is obviously the main section of the FAQ so I have divided it into sub-sections for easier reference. They are divided by the levels you go to throughout Donkey Kong. They can also be found with pictures in the instruction manual. The last level does not have a picture though. It isn't that great so don't think your missing anything spectacular like a Picasso painting. Section 4 Index- A-Start B-Big-City C-Forest D-Ship E-Jungle F-Desert G-Airplane H-Iceberg I-Rocky Valley J-Tower --------------- A-Start --------------- This is like a warm-up to the real game. I'm not sure but I think this is a duplicate of the first stage in the original arcade Donkey Kong. In these stages you can't collect all of the bonus items to get extra lives in one stage. If your having problems with these stages this game really isn't for you but then again maybe you just need a jump start to get you rolling. So here it is also divided into individual stages. Stage 1)This is simple enough, just climb the first ladder and dodge any barrels if they come your way. If you keep dieing by the barrels just jump to pick up the hammer and it will smash right through them. The problem comes to when you want to climb a ladder the the next platform. If you want to keep the hammer get under the ladder and through the hammer then quickly climb up the ladder. If your fast enough you should catch it. Beware though, the hammer does vanish after a short while so don't stand around. All the levels end when you reach the platform that Pauline is on or the platform next to her. If you touch Donkey Kong you will die though so don't try to use the hammer on him. Stage 2)This one is much more complex then the first stage. First of all there are fireballs that hang around on the conveyer. The conveyer itself is a problem because you tend to drift into the fireballs. These firballs can be destroyed by the hammer as well. I would watch out for the pies though, my friend said he could destroy the pies with the hammer but for some reason the hammer just goes through the pies in my game. Also, the ladder up to Donkey Kong to end the level extends up to him at certain times. There is a heart that is a one up on the right that you can get if you feel like it. These strategies are to just get through the level, not to get all the bonus items. When you climb the ladder be sure not to run into Donkey Kong. Stage 3)This level introduces the elevators and the springs that Donkey Kong has an endless supply of. Just use the elevators to jump from one platform to the next till you get to the ladder that Donkey Kong is on. Right after he throws the spring climb up and stand right under the ladder of the first platform. The spring should hop over you. If you try to rush it and climb up the ladder to end the level the spring could kill you. After the spring has passed climb up and end this level. Stage 4-BOSS)Every 4 levels you have to face Donkey Kong and try to kill him. This level is simple. You will see near the edges of each platform a little box that when you pass it will vanish. All you must do is make all the boxes vanish(6 total) and you have beaten this stage and won the first section out of 9 of Donkey Kong. All the other levels are much longer than this one though. So be ready to fight Donkey Kong many more times. --------------- B-Big-City --------------- This section has a total of 8 stages and 2 Donkey Kong fights. You can tell by the red squares and the face of Donkey Kong for the next time you will face him. Now you will be dealing with keys and locked doors. The concept is simple:get the key and goto the door to end the stage. But the catch is if you drop the key it will start blinking and if you don't pick it up shortly it will go back to it's original place in the stage. All of the stages(excluding the Donkey Kong fights) are like this so get used to this huge key. Stage 1)This is simple. The only thing is watch out for the fireball thing with OIL on the bottom of it. That cannot be destroyed by anything. Just climb the ladders up to the platform where the OIL creature is going up and down and run passed him when he goes up. Climb the ladder and go right to the key. Pick it up and you'll fall to the lower platform. Just goto the door and the stage will end as long as you still hold the key. Stage 2)This stage is just a zig-zag of platforms. Climb the ladders up and run passed the OIL when it goes up and start jumping your way accross the platforms. Don't worry about the mouse that can walk up- side-down because he can't hurt you if you touch him. Make your way to the other end and watch out for the OIL again.(that wasn't meant to rhyme) Now grab the key and make your way to the end with the ladder. When you get there throw the key up and climb the ladder quickly. Grab the key before it goes back to it's original spot and make your way to the door. Stage 3)This one is hard if you haven't played this game before. Climb the telephone pole at the left end and jump to the platform. Jump over to the next and climb the ladder to the key. I would wait till the electrical spark that goes along the wire above stops and then jump on the moving platform. On it's way down again jump off to the platform with the door and go in to end this level. If you want to get the bonus items just jump on the wire and hold up until you go really fast then press the botton to fly in the air. Stage 4-BOSS)Donkey Kong really does have an a problem with Mario for some reason. The trick to this is to watch Donkey Kong and when he jumps in the air and is about to land you jump in the air also. If you don't you will be shocked for a moment and have a greater chance of being hit from the junk that tumbles down. Just go to the left screen and climb up the ladder then jump across the platforms to the right. Jump up and save Pauline(try to save her at least) and Donkey Kong will take her to the next part of the Big-City. PREVIEW OF NEXT LEVELS-As with the action scene after you beat Donkey Kong you will have to create bridges with the horizontal arrow box. It will vanish after a short time so be quick. You'll know because the music will speed up. If you have the sound down all the way because you are annoying a family member then you just have to guess that your time is running out. Stage 5)This is like a demo level to show you how to use these boxes. When you start out just jump or fall down to the ledge with the box on it. If you keep landing on the spikes because your a bad aim then use the ladders. Jump up and hit the box. Make a bridge to connect the platform you are on to the one accross. Just line it up with your platform and it will do the rest. (Note:The bridge will start vanishing where you placed the square to make it. For harder levels start the bridge close to you so you have time to run across it even if it starts to vanish) Now quickly run across to the other side. Climb up the set of ladders to the top. Pick up the key FIRST, then hit the box to connect that platform to the door. See, that wasn't so hard. Stage 6)Another demo level, this one deals with making ladders. I would wait for to make the ladder until the fireball guy starts walking on the right. That way you won't hit him while your climbing. Align the square to make the ladder with the one below so you can just climb all the way up instead of switching ladders. After you climb up hit the other ladder box to the right. Make this ladder go all the way down from your platform to the ground level. Make sure it is as far right as possible. If it isn't you could run into the fireball guy and die. If you do just jump to the right off of the ladder. After you go down you see the two boxes. One horizontal and one vertical. Hit the horizontal first and extand the platform that the key and the door are on. Now make a ladder to connect to the platform you just made. Make sure it is left of the bonus space ship item so it doesn't stop mid way. Again, watch out for the fireball on your way up. Now get the key and get onto the next level. Stage 7)This level is kinda hard to explain so I'll go into more detail than normally. Sorry for wasting your time with the text for those of you who know what I'm talking about. Jump up to the right platform that has a ladder connecting it to another small platform. Climb up the ladder. Now hit the vertical box. See the platform with the sheep walking along it? Make the ladder between that one and the small platform on the left below it. Climb down and jump onto the moving platform when it starts to the right. Then jump right to the next platform. Jump up to hit the horizontal box and make a platform that extands the one that the door is on. It will make a long line across most of the screen. I would start the bridge on the right of the screen incase it starts to vanish while your still crossing. Grab the key quickly and ride the moving platforms up. Now just run left to the door and your on your way to the main boss of the Big-City. Stage 8-BOSS)Wow! This boss is...Donkey Kong! What a surprise. Since this is the last level of one of the big sections you have to hurt Donkey Kong. There is no way to reach Pauline so don't even think about it. Just wait for him to throw the barrels that zig-zag their way down to the main platform. Pick them up and jump up to either the platform just to the right or the left of Donkey Kong. Throw the barrel at him and he'll get stunned. 3 times and you'll beat the level and the Big- City. Congrats! C-Forest As you can see from the little sequence here that you'll not be making platforms in these levels but extending them to cross. These levels get complicated when monsters start to crawl on them. But it's a lot of fun to watch them fall if you pull the bridge back:) Doesn't this section look...uh...um...long! This is normal for the following levels. The only section that is longer is the section before the tower. It has 16 levels total. Ok, on with business. Level 1)Goto the right and climb up the ladder. Don't worry about the lady bug, they act like a mouse in the previous section and can't hurt you. The actually become VERY useful in the following levels. Now on the next...um..platform(sorta) the spined back isn't as helpful as the lady bug, watch out for him(or her). Climb up the ladder and try to pull the switch before our spined friend gets above you so you trap him down there. Goto the left and nab the key. Goto the far right to the elevator and go down. Jump off to the left and continue left to the door where you started. If you think the spined guys are annoying in this level, just wait till you see the one where you have to release them to exit the level! Level 2)This level is just plain annoying.(no further explanation needed)Go to the right and climb the ladder to the switch. Push the switch to the left. Don't pull it to the right because that will do something else to the lifts. Now go on the lift to the left and ride it to the top. Stay on the far left of the lift in case the spined monster comes down the wall and hits you. Jump down the hole and time your jumps of the lifts so you can jump all the way to the right where the key is. Pick it up and CAREFULLY jump down. If you jump too far you'll drop the key on the way and might lose it again. Now position yourself under the ladder to the switch. Jump and throw the key up. Quickly climb up the ladder and grab the key AND watch out for Mr. Spiney. Go on the lift and jump up to the door to pass this not so fun level. Level 3)Right about now I'm having 2nd thoughts about this FAQ but I'm still typing so YOU can have help. (actually I'm way passed 2nd thoughts, I'm on like 8th thoughts)I died on this level many times simply because I wasn't patient with the seed spitting plants. Jump up to the conveyers and stop under the lift. Duck until the seed passes you. Jump up on the lift and ride it to the switch. You can now grab that key and get out, but WAIT! This is where I died all the time. I rushed it and got hit by the seed. My advice is to jump to the left conveyers and just jump down when the seeds pass. If you try to go down on the lift your almost sure to die.(or take more time than going my way) Grab the key and get on your way to Donkey Kong. Level 4-BOSS)Donkey Kong must REALLY love Pauline to go through all this trouble to keep her away from you. In any case, climb the vines to the top. You climb faster if you go between two instead of hanging onto one. Watch out for the baby alligators(hey, you tell me) and hit the strawberry if an alligator is below. Doesn't really help since Donkey Kong keeps throwing them but at least your trying. Jump to the next set of vines and climb down to the spring. Use the spring to get up to the next set of vines. Watch Donkey Kong's patterns and try to go to the left when he throws the one down. Jump over any baby alligators on the way and climb up the vine so you can reach Pauline. Well, almost reach before Donkey Kong gets her, yet again! PREVIEW OF NEXT LEVELS-This sequence will not be directly related with all the levels. It does sorta help when you face Donkey Kong and he is throwing the barrels. Just do the handstand and wait for it to drop. This does help with the tower because that is the only way to get the barrels to hit him when you face him for the last time. The next four levels are just a harder version of the ones before. Good luck(and god speed!) Level 5)This is the first water level in the game. Watch out for the fish because if you touch them you die. Dive in the water and start to swim to the right. Just wait for the fish to pass to the left and start swimming under it or walk along the platform. Now you'll have to do this fast. Swim up and hit the box. Make a bridge from the platform that the key is on. It will extend to the door. Now jump up to the little platform on the left. Jump up to the key. Quickly grab it and run as fast as Mario's little feet will carry him and you'll make it in time. Well you got passed your first water level. Congrats:) Level 6)This is the level I hate. I just fooled around with the switches till I got it. What you want to do is get the 2 lady bugs that are climbing on the upper section to stay on the bottom with the other two. Just wait till they cross the door and get on that little platform then switch it to make them stay there. If you can get one to stay there then that should work. Now make sure the door is up and the bridges are connected. Run to the left and use the spring to jump up. Now go to the right to the next spring. Don't mess with the switch to the right. It does the same thing as the other one. Wait for the one lady bug to pass you then jump up to the left and run. If the lady bug starts toward you just back up and try again. Jump on the spring and cross to the right. Then jump on the next one to the right and grab the key. Then use the spring to go left and exit this level. Level 7)This one is like the last one but they throw in some of the spiny guys to make it more interesting. Run to the right to the switch. Pull it to release the lady bugs and spiny guys. Now when they are released push the switch again. Ok, now see the little platform to the right,(the real one)wait till a lady bug gets on that then pull the switch again. As soon as the lady bug gets on the real wall push the switch. See how the lady bug is trapped now? Go left and use the spring to get on the platform on the right. Cross to the right and climb the ladder. When the trapped lady bug comes around jump on it so you can ride it to the top. Jump to the left and go on the conveyers. All you have to do is hole down until you pass under the spikes. Go up the ladder and get the key. Go to the right and while your still on the platform throw the key on the conveyer. Now quickly run to the left and down the ladder, then grab the key as it comes out. Then go to the door and get ready for another Donkey Kong fight. Level 8-BOSS)This one is easy. Wait for the log thingy to come down and jump on it. Then jum on one of the moving platforms when it starts back up. Try to get the highest platform. Then jump to the vines. After Donkey Kong throws a spring cross over to the far right vine. Climb up it then climb to the left. After he throws another one jump down to the left. Run over to the first ladder and stay there. The spring will pass over you then you can climb up to end the level. Way to go! PREVIEW OF NEXT LEVELS-This sequence is just funny but doesn't really have anything to do with the next section. This next section will be more annoying then the other but don't worry because you have this trusty guide:) This section also shows one of the most annoying bad guys. They are birds that fly around the screen and try to run into you. If that doesn't work they also drop eggs on you.(yes they are eggs) Level 9)Go on the first platform and ride it to the top, watch out for the bird. Now fall down and try to hit the horizontal box. If you hit it make a bridge right below where you are so you don't die from the fall. Now use the rar right platform and ride that to the top. Climb down the ladder and pull the switch to change the elevators. Then go and get the key. Ride the lift to the bottom and then go left to the door. Only complicated thing in this level is the bird that is on a mission to kill you.(must have been payed off by Donkey Kong) Level 10)This level is one of my favorites. Whatever you do, don't jump unless you have to. If you do it will wake up the flower guys and they will charge at you. Go to the far right ladder and climb it. Climb the next one and the one after that. When you get to the one where a flower is on a seperate platform with the key you have to jump to the platform then jump back to the one you were on. This will make the flower go a little to the right. It will give you more time to get the key later. Climb the ladder to the highest platform then climb down on the left. Jump up to the key and read the following before you grab it. You will have to jump and throw the key up to the highest platform right away then climb up there before the flower hits you. It will be very close but you'll make it. Then grab the key before it vanishes and you beat that level. I think those flower guys are the best to mess around with:) Level 11)Like most levels there are a lot of ways to do this but I still don't understand why the ladder box is there because it just seems to make things harder for me. Make your way to the first row of moving platforms by doing the handstand super jump trick. When you get to them do another handstand then jump up to the next row. It seems if you hold up when you do that jump you jump a little higher. When you get there jump up to the next conveyers then jump to the platforms with the handstand jump.(see it does come in handy) Get the key and CAREFULLY make your way down to the door. Good luck with Donkey Kong. Level 12-BOSS)Well your about to get rid of this evil forest level forever. Just pick up the barrels and hit Donkey Kong 3 times. The only extra thing that they added in this level were the springs that make it a little easier(I think) to hit him. Well good luck with that and now on to the Ship section! --------------- D-Ship --------------- This sequence does help with the next section. The slanted lines are like the normal ones in the Big-City section but they launch you in a direction and up. Thats about all that is new to this except for the bad guys which are always new. The first level of this section took me about 10 lives to pass but when my friend's little brother tried it he showed me a MUCH easier way to pass it. That's the way I'll show you and it was thanks to him that it is this walkthrough. Level 1)The walking log guys are like the lady bugs except they can't walk on the walls. They just walk in a straight line till they hit something. Go to the right and climb the ladder. Jump on the log guys and make your way to the right. Hit the box. See the little gap below between the platform and the spikes? Connect it and the log guy will walk along the spikes. Wait for a sec though and make sure he is still walking on the spikes when the platform vanishes. If he isn't do it again till he is stuck there. This is the way that is much easier. You don't even want to here my way of doing this. It is too complicated for me to even explain. Make your way to the left and down. Jump on the log guy to get to the key. Pick it up and go to the left to the door to pass this very easy level. Level 2)This next level has a set of enemies that you wish you could kill over and over because they get you so angry. When you start out one of them will push you over the edge.(literally) When you get over the edge the next one will TRY to. When he does jump over him and go to the right. Climb up the ladder and go to the left. Jump up to the wire and start swinging. Let go when you first start off. If you do it at full speed you'll pass the key and have to do it again. Grab the key and go down the hole. Go right and jump over the crab. Quickly throw the key up and climb the ladder before the crab can get you. Grab the key again and exit the level. Level 3)Uh no! There are 4 doors now! Don't worry though, you only have to open one of them with the key and that's the one on the far left. Go left and jump over the pushy guy. Duck and the pushy guy will push you to the other side. Do a handstand and jump over the wall to the other side. Go left and jump on the elevator platforms. Grab the key and go right. Throw the key at the bad guys to kill them. That little black block you saw makes a little square. It is really an annoying thing to use but you have to in some levels. Go right and throw the key up. Do the handstand jump and get the key. Jump up and go to the left side and throw the key up. Grab it and run to the left door. See, nothing to worry about:) Level 4-BOSS)Now you have to worry. This level looks really complicated but it with my help you can pass it. Jump on one of the platforms and watch out for the log that tries to smash you. When it passes to the left jump on the next platform. Go to the left and go up the ladders to the switch. Again use the handstand jump and push the trick. That will get rid of the log trouble to the next switch. Go and pull that one. Make your way to the right. Jump on the log and make it to the top. Then go left and you beat one of the harder Donkey Kong levels. PREVIEW OF NEXT LEVELS-Again this sequence doesn't help with anything you don't already know. This next section is just the normal annoyances. The boss this time is the main one so you have to use those barrels so that's a little more annoying but you'll beat it. Wait till you see the last time you face Donkey Kong! Level 5)Go to the right and follow the line. Jump off if the spark gets close to you. When it passes jump up and start twisting. When your at full speed let go and you'll catch the next line.(be sure to hold up or else you won't catch the next line) Hold up again and let go to go on the next platform. Climb the ladder then go left to climb the next ladder to the key. Go left and catch the elevator down to the door. Yay, one more level out of the way out of 100.(yes I counted, there are 100 levels total) Level 6)Ok, this level is all about timing. Go right and hit the box. Make a bridge above the spikes that you see above you so you can walk over them. Next climb the ladder but jump off and hit the box. Make another bridge over the spikes above the other ones where the bad guys are. Now you have to run like **** up the ladder and over the bridge before it vanishes. If you did then all you have to do is climb the ladder, do the handstand jump to the key, grab it and throw it to the door, then go to the door and use the key and you did it! Level 7)Climb the first ladder you see up to the platform. Now go over and do the handstand jump to the platform with the switch. Push it to make some more platforms. Now wait till that pushy guy goes over one of the platforms then pull it so he falls down. Now go left and climb down the ladder. Jump over him when he comes at you then duck and let him push you to the right. But make sure you jump over the hole so he doesn't push you and the fish get you. Push the switch and hit the vertical box. Make a ladder to the platform above then climb up to the platform with the key. Grab the key and go left to the door and your on your way to Donkey Kong. Level 8-BOSS)Where is Donkey Kong! Oh, he is all the way up there. You can either do that handstand to stop the barrels early or wait till they come down and go all the way up and hit him. Again 3 times will kill him and then you'll be on your way to the happy Jungle. Where you'll spend 3 days and 3 nights at the lovely hotel overlooking the palm trees:) Oh..um....Anyway you'll go to the jungle and try to kill Donkey Kong. --------------- E-Jungle --------------- I'm not even going to mention the sequences anymore unless they are important. Now your in the jungle. Again the normal bad guys with the baby alligators, flying birds, etc. But this time you'll use those black blocks I mentioned before and some new spring blocks. Have fun(that's what the game is for) This is just like the forest section only harder. I guess they started running out of names or something like that. Anyways good luck with this section. It has 3 Donkey Kong fights but overall this section is pretty normal. Level 1)Climb up the vines all the way and watch out for the bird. Continue left and try to hit any alligators with the nut but keep going if it takes too long. Go on the platform and grab the key. Go left to the next platform and hit the spring box. Land it on the spikes a little to the right. Fall doesn and hit it to jump to the door and out of this level you go. Level 2)More of those happy speed spitting plants. The level is simple enough. Just hand onto one of the vines and then keep going after the seed passes. Then hang onto another. The key to this is patiance. If you try to jump over a seed or anything like that you might die so do it my way. Just grab the key and go to the door and your done. Level 3)It's a monkey level. I think these guys are the coolest things. Go up the vine and transfer over to the monkey tail. He'll carry you over to the right. Jump off and onto the spring. Use the spring to jump over to the left. Again transfer over to the monkey tails till you get to the key. Grab the key and jump down to the door.(watch out for the crab that has an extended claw) Level 4-BOSS)Wow, a boss already, that was fast. These levels were pretty easy huh:) This time you deal with Donkey Kong Jr. which has an annoying little dance that he does and plays around with some switches. Just wait for Donkey Kong Jr. to pull the switch then go on the platform to go to the top. Then wait again for him to pull it and cross over to Donkey Kong to beat this level(watch out for the springs he throws) PREVIEW OF NEXT LEVELS-Oh great, now Mario can be even more smaller. Well all I can tell you is to watch out for them. Some barrels make a mushroom when they explode so watch out for that too. Now on to the next part of the jungle. Piece of cake, right? We'll see:) Level 5)Bats and crabs, not a fun level. Climb up the first set of vines all the way to the top. Go to the left then go down the vines. Then go left. Then up more. Try to kill the bats and the crabs with the nuts so it makes it easier. Then grab the key and make your way down back to the door. If this wasn't hard wait till you get to the next level. That is really complicated looking. Good luck:) Level 6)Go left and start climbing the ladders. Look at that, more black blocks. Climb the ladder then keep jumping your way across to the key. When you get it you should be able to walk along most of it back to the left. Hit the black block and make it halfway between the two platforms so you can jump up to the next one. Hit the next one and complete the bridge. You want to try to get all or most of the bad guys to the far right platform. Then throw the key up and climb the ladder. Cross to the next platform and throw the key up again. Climb up the vines and grab the key again. Cross to the right and go in the door. Not so hard anymore is it:) Level 7)Donkey Kong Jr. is at work again.(and I'm sure it is to stop you) More of my favorite flower guys are here too. Try not to jump at all and if you do then you should do a handstand jump to pass the flower quickly. When you get to the next platform wait for the extended bridges to come then jump and go down the ladder. Now you can go up the ladder. Do so after the flower guys sit down. Go up the left ladder and get the hammer. Now you can take revenge on all those flowers that have tried to kill you:) Go right and jump then go over the flower to go up the ladder. Carefully make your way to the left when the bridges are up and grab the key. Then carefully go right to the door and it's on to Donkey Kong(again) Level 8-BOSS)I wonder if he will grab Pauline and run away after this level again, only one way to find out. Here is the first mushroom level you'll deal with so be careful. Go left and climb the vines. Then drop off to the platform. Climb up the next vine and wait for the alligator to go below the nut then drop it on him. Again, watch out for the mushrooms. Then go to the left and onto the platform that Pauline is on. Way to go:) PREVIEW OF NEXT LEVELS-Last part of the Jungle section so you'll have to kill Donkey Kong with the barrels again. This deals with those cool monkeys again but isn't that hard. I don't think this entire section is that hard actually. But if you need a challenge wait for the Tower section:) Level 9)Go right and climb the ladder to the platform. Jump to the vine and keep switching the monkey tails till you get to the left side. Climb up the 3 ladders to a platform with a switch on it. Push it to release all of those neat monkeys. Stay on one of the tails to get a ride to the right side of the stage. Jump off and go down to the next switch. Push it to raise the door that kept you from the key AND makes another bridge. When one of the monkeys gets on the bridge pull the switch so he falls. Now you can cross those spikes without trouble. Make your way back to the key platform, grab it, and your on your way outta here:) Level 10)Vines, spikes, and alligators, oh my! Climb the first two vines then jump to the next. Repeat this till you get to the other side. The frog can't hurt you if you touch him so don't worry. Grab the key and jump on the frog. Then jump on the next platform when the frog jumps. Then say "thankyou" to the nice frog for helpin' you out:) Jump your way to the left with the key. Throw the key over to the right then get over there via the vines. Make your way to the right again by jumping along the platforms. Throw the key AGAIN and go left with the key to the door to exit this zig-zag level. Level 11)Here are those fun mushrooms again. Go left and climb the ladder. Jump over to the next conveyer and wait for the ladder to extend so you can climb it. Then climb the next ladder when it extends. If you get hit by a mushroom just wait to turn normal again so you can climb the ladder. Climb up to the door platform. Oh look, it is Donkey Kong Jr. that is throwing all of those great mushrooms. Well he and Donkey Kong both have it coming:) Go right to nab the key and make it back to the door so you can face the last level of this section. Level 12-BOSS)This one will be a little harder. First of all you can fall down and die so thats a problem. Then there is the problem that mushrooms will periodically come down and try to get you. Like always just hit him 3 times with the barrels and he is a goner. There really isn't much else to say here except good luck:) See ya at the next section. --------------- F-Desert --------------- This sequence does help because you will have to knock out walls in these pyramid stages but be quick because these hammers run out fast. If you do run out don't worry because they come from boxes like the springs so you can get another one:) Good luck. Level 1)Ok, this is one of those demo levels again so just play along. Get the hammer and smash your way through to the other side. Throw the hammer up and climb the ladder. Then smash your way through the other wall. Throw it up again and climb the ladder to this next platform. Smash through and you'll get another hammer so you don't run out of time. Now throw this one up and climb the ladder and smash through both walls. Grab the key and go left. You'll slowly sink down to where the door is and your done. Level 2)Climb the ladder to the left and jump over to the right platforms. Climb up again and get the hammer. Kill the mummies and go left to break through the floor. Make your way down, break through the wall, kill the skull, and break through the other wall. Grab the key and your home free to the door. Level 3)Look complicated? Well it isn't that comlicated. First, climb up the set of ladders to the top. Go right and climb the ladder to the hammer box. Go passed it and climb down the ladders. Go left to the vertical box. Make a ladder connection to the first platform. Now hit the horizontal box and make a bridge under the 2nd ladder. Now climb the ladder, push the switch, and climb up the 2nd ladder. Grab the key and ride the lift down. Go right and you beat that level, see, pretty easy. Level 4-BOSS)Remember the first time you saw Donkey Kong and he did that stomp thing, well he is doing it again. So when he is about to just jump so you don't get stunned. Now jump up to the first platform and climb the ladders when they extend. Now climb the next ladder and go to the left. That was the easiest boss level I ever faced. PREVIEW OF NEXT LEVELS-The usual annoyances for the next levels. Nothing more to be typed. Level 5)The sheep are back! They just flew in from the Big-City and are now at an exotic vacation. Well anyways, climb the ladder up to the sheep. Just jump over them and down to where the key is. Get the key and jump on the spring to the moving platform. Throw the key on the conveyer then jump on the left platform. Jump back up and climb down the ladder. Jump when you start then pick up the key before it vanishes. If you did that all you have to do now is go to the door. Level 6)Hear that sound? Oh no! It's Donkey Kong Jr. so there must be trouble. Climb the ladders and get the hammer. Kill any of the flowers on the way if you want but make sure you knock out the wall at the bottom right. Now climb the ladder up to the platform. Watch out for the fire ball guys and get the hammer. Kill them then push the switch above. Go down, get the key and make your way to the door. Level 7)First jump up the blocks and start climbing down the ladder. Watch out for the cannon balls on your way. Get the hammer and knock out the wall on the left and right. Now go left and hit the black box. Make a square that you can use to get up the pyramid again. Grab the key, go back down, and go right to the door. Level 8-BOSS)This is a much harder version of the first level. Just climb the ladders and avoid the barrels. I would get the hammer to help you out. I know there isn't much that I can type that will help so Good Luck!:) PREVIEW OF NEXT LEVELS-Well this is the last part of the Desert section. Again you'll have to hurt Donkey Kong so good luck as always. There isn't really anything new in this entire section so there really isn't much to type here:) Sorry but this is where I'm stopping the walkthrough for awhile because I'm kept busy with my Darkstone and Legacy of Kain:Soul Reaver FAQs so this will be updated when I get bored and play the game more. If your stuck a certain level in the game that is after this please e-mail me at Mordruk@hotmail.com and I'll send you a strategy:) ======== 4-Copyright and Thankyou Stuff ======== I've worked harder on this FAQ then most of my others so I REALLY don't want anyone to steal this one! So I have to do this Copyright stuff because somone will try:( This FAQ is mine and cannot be copied and sold for profit or promotional purposes in any way. I do not want this published in books, magazines, guides, etc without my permission. It can be printed(please 1 copy per person) If you want to post this on a site please contact me first. I would be more than happy to have it on another site but I would like to know about it first. If you are going to use my FAQ as a premise for yours please give credit to me because I did work hard on this. Thank you for following these simple rules and give me credit where it is deserved:) Copyright 1999 Special thanks to Nintendo for making a fun(and VERY long) game that I liked so much that I wrote a FAQ. Also, special thanks to my dog Buster(which used to be my password to everything) for getting in the way and on the keyboard so I couldn't type. Without him it wouldn't have been any fun and I would have lost my mind writing the endless levels.
