WALKTHROUGH

BY VIDEO GAME WIZARD



1. Angel Island Zone

Act 1
Not bad for a first zone. New features are the swings. Just grab on one,
and away it goes!

Midboss
The Bomb and Flame Launcher
You'll meet with him once before battle. When he first comes down, jump on
top of him.

Act 2
If you have a lightning or flame shield, it'll be gone soon!
Also, if you don't have a flame shield in a section of the game, you won't
complete a swing ride.

End of Zone Challenges
1. Bomber Blimp
Run to the right to avoid bombs. 
2. Dr. Robotnik's Fire-arms
When you cross the bridge, get 1 hit in. Then, (if you have a flame
shield), hit him like mad. Otherwise, try when either he isn't throwing
fireballs, or if he's on land edges.
3. Knuckles' Bridge Breaker
You can't do anything. It'll automatically bring you to the Hydrocity Zone.


2. Hydrocity Zone

Act 1
Long-term "Raiders of the Last Ark" in underwater form. Watch out for Mega
Chompers. Hold to the left at beginning, then use spring by clinging the
wall to get 10 rings.
Tails-Only Hint:
Push to left at beginning. Fly to the right. You will go to a special area.

Mid-boss
Washing Machine
Don't hit the first time you see him. Dodge two times. Wait. Don't drown.
Jump. Jump. Jump. Jump. Rinse. Jump. Jump.

Act 2
Be careful at the beginning for the wall of hell. Go to the right as quick
as possible. I have not been able to get all six rings here. But five is
good.

End of Zone Challenges
1. Knuckles' Bridge Destroyer
Like in Angel Island, you can't do anything. Then, walk to right, cling to
bar, go up, let go. Repeat.
2. Dr. Robotnik's Underwater Typhoon Maker
Hit him twice when he comes down. Use typhoon when he's done to hit third
time. Use bombs to launch and hit Dr. R.
Tails-Only Hint
Just hit Dr. R on the bottom 8 times.


3. Marble Garden Zone

Act 1
Hold to right. Get ten rings and a lightning shield. Double-jump to get 4
more. Go down to get lots. Miss rotating platforms to get up to 75 rings!
Try to miss the maces. New features are the grinding wheels and the tops.
Spin-dash against a wheel to make secret platforms rise. For tops, go on
them completely. If you must fly, push in the direction of flight to soar,
and release to dip. If top is under block, do nothing. It'll crash into
walls for you.

Mid-boss
Tunnelbot
Like in Angel Island, you'll meet him once before battle. Avoid spikes from
sky. Hit him when you'll miss drills.

Act 2
New features are the wheel-pull and the stump. Clutch the bar for
wheel-pull to work. Jump on stump to get rings. Get rings in mud, but don't
sink!

End of Zone Challenge
Robotnik's Aerial Drill
This time, you'll meet him twice before battle. Hit 3-4 times first. Use
Tails to guide you through the rest. Jump to avoid drill.


4. Carnival Night Zone

Act 1
New features are the balloons, the cannons, the fire platforms, the candy
stick dash, the anti-gravity platforms and the barrels. Jump on balloons.
Jump in cannons. Jump to launch. Dash before candy stick for extra-fast
dash. Float on anti-gravity platforms. Push down and up for barrels to
move.

Mid-boss
Block Arkanoid
Jump on spiked platform when released. Let it hit Arkanoid 4 times. If
there are holes in the ground, don't go through them! You could still die!

Act 2
Not much here.

End of Zone Challenges
1. Knuckles' Time Shifter
Can't do nothing except hit button later in act.
2. Robotnik's Generator
Hit when he goes down to pick up ball..


5. Ice Cap Zone

Act 1
New features are the ice chunks. Push one to make move.
Sonic-Only Tip:
Don't jump on snowboard to receive 40 rings in seconds!

Mid-boss
Little Cute Snowball Chucker
Yeah, this does look like a POKeMON, but it has an attitude. Hit twice when
it doesn't have the snowballs.

Act 2
New features are the snow-dash and the block-loop. Spin-dash in
snow-dashes. In block-loops, dash to receive blocks to destroy followed by
a slide.

End of Zone Challenge
Robotnik's Ice Maker
This is no sno-cone maker. Hit 6 times, the he pilots himself. Hit in front
twice.


6. Launch Base Zone

Act 1
New features are the metallic loop, the springer, the elevators, and the
spinout. On loop, watch out for indestructable Orbinauts. Ram into
springer. (No, not Jerry.) Ride in elevators. For some spinouts, there
really is a spinout!

Mid-boss
The Major Mid-boss

Just hit when mace-balls are side-to-side.

Act 2
New feature is the waterspout. There's only one. Destroy a certain pipe,
then jump in.

End of Zone Challenges
1. Robotnik's Ball Launcher
Follow pattern which I don't know.
2. Knuckles' Punch
He destroys himself here (Yay!) or so to speak. He lives and comes back for
the rest of the story in Sonic & Knuckles!
3. Robotnik's Laserlight Show
Watch out for that guard. Hit four times to destroy each laser. Then hit
once.
4. Sonic's Nightmare
This is the only night scene, except if you activate the "Play At Night"
code. Hit when he comes from side. He tries to crush you from the top, make
you nail the spikes from the bottom, and he'll pound you to a roach if
you're not careful. Then, prepare for a credits and special moments area!
