Get the first Star Piece

-Start a new game

To begin a new game, press the Start Button on the title screen to view 
the save files. Press the L Button to select Stereo sound
or the R Button for Mono sound. Move the Mario Icon next to the words 
New Game and press the A Button to start a new
game. The game will bring up a name entry screen and request your name. 
This name will be used for your save files only! The
main character's name will always be Mario, of course. To enter a 
letter, point to it with the cursor and press the A Button. The
maximum length is eight letters long. When you are finished, point to 
the word Done and press the A Button. This will play the
introduction, so you can start your adventure. 

-Watch Bowser's Keep collapse 

You begin the game in Bowser's Keep. When you first begin, you can't 
access the Item or Status screens. The only buttons
that really work are the Jump or B Button and the Run or Y Button. Go up 
through the doors in the castle until you reach a
room with two chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Walk diagonally up 
and right until the game stops you and makes Mario
look up to see the Princess. You'll automatically jump up to the top of 
one of the chandeliers across from your arch enemy,
Bowser. Follow Princess Toadstool's directions to defeat Bowser. After 
defeating Bowser, an automatic sequence will show
some clouds with a star on it and a sword falling into the castle. The 
game will display the Title screen for a little while, but don't
be alarmed -- your game has not reset on you. Mario will fly out of the 
castle and end-up stuck on a wall in his house. After
Toad talks to you, press the B Button to jump off the peg you are 
hanging on. Exit the house and talk to Toad by standing in
front of him and pressing the A Button. After talking to him, save your 
game on the Save Block in the upper-left corner of
Mario's front yard, then exit the screen in the bottom-right corner. 
This will take you out to the World Map screen. Note: You
will not be able to move anywhere on the map if you do not talk to Toad! 
On the map screen, push Left on the Control Pad to
move Mario to Bowser's Keep. Press the A Button to enter Bowser's Keep. 
After watching an automatic sequence where you
learn about the Smithy Gang, the bridge to Bowser's Keep collapses and 
you appear back on the World Map. Press Right to
move from Vista Hill to Mario's Pad, then press the A Button to enter 
Mario's Pad again. Next, you need to go to Mushroom
Kingdom. 

-Go to Mushroom Kingdom 

After watching the bridge to Bowser's Keep collapse, you're ready to 
enter Mushroom Way. Return to Mario's Pad and enter
the house to talk to Toad again. He will suggest telling the Chancellor 
in the Mushroom Kingdom. Exit the house and then try to
exit the area. Toad will bump in to you and offer to teach you how to 
use items and Timed Hits, which are essential to survive
some of the tougher enemies. After he finishes his entire message, you 
may want to save your game at the Save Point in the
upper-left corner again. Exit the screen in the bottom-right corner to 
access the World Map. Push Right on the Control Pad to
move Mario to Mushroom Way. Press the A Button to enter the area. Once 
inside Mushroom Way, follow the path right to
the Treasure Box, then go up and left to where Toad is hopping up and 
down in front of a Goomba. Defeat the Goombas to
release Toad and get a Honey Syrup as a reward. Take the top path to 
reach the next screen and rescue Toad from the Sky
Koopa to get a Flower Tab. Take the upper-right path to the next screen 
and work your way right to the far-right corner
where the Hammer Brothers are holding Toad hostage. Defeat the Hammer 
Brothers to get the Hammer, then exit the screen
through the far-right corner to access the World Map. Push Right on the 
Control Pad to move Mario to Mushroom Kingdom
and press the A Button it. Next, you need to get Mallow to join your 
party. 

-Get Mallow to join you

Now that you've reached the Mushroom Kingdom, you can get the Map and 
get Mallow to join you. Enter the castle in the
upper-left corner of the Mushroom Kingdom. Follow Toad through two doors 
to enter the Throne Room, and the Chancellor
will talk to you and give you the Map. Go to the Vault to get the items 
the Chancellor told you about, then exit the Castle. You
will watch an automatic sequence with Croco and Mallow. When it starts 
raining, talk to Mallow, the bawling puffball. Agree to
help him and he will join you. Next, you need to catch Croco and get the 
Rare Frog Coin. 

-Defeat Croco and get the Rare Frog Coin 

Once Mallow has joined you, talk with all the people in Mushroom 
Kingdom. Purchase armor and other items for Mario and
Mallow in the Item shop, then take the RIGHT exit out of town. You'll 
encounter Croco, and will learn about his recent evil
deeds. Take the top right exit of the town to go to the World Map. Push 
diagonally Down and Left on the Control Pad to go to
Bandit's Way and press the A Button to enter the area. Work your way to 
the bottom-right corner of the first screen and take
the path to the next screen. Jump on top of the rotating red flower, 
then jump off when you are facing the raised platform. Walk
to the right side of the platform and jump on to the yellow floating 
block, then jump to the next floating block. This will cause
the block that you were previously on to move ahead of you. Jump on this 
next block and continue this process until you can
jump to the raised platform on the right side of the screen. (If you 
fall off at any time, just jump back on the block from the
ground.) Jump off the right side of the far-right platform, then take 
the top-right path to the next screen. Take the top-right path
to exit the next screen, then work your way up and right until you can 
go down and right to the far-right screen exit. In the next
screen, you will need to sneak-up on Croco three times before he will 
fight you. To sneak-up on him, RUN by holding the Y
Button and jump on his head when he is facing away from you. After 
catching Croco for the third time, you will fight him to
recover the Rare Frog Coin and the Wallet. After you defeat Croco, a 
spring will appear. Jump on the spring to return to the
Save Point in Bandit's Way. Next, you need to defeat Mack in Mushroom 
Kingdom to get the first Star Piece. 

-Defeat Mack to get the first Star Piece 

After defeating Croco and getting the Rare Frog Coin, return to Mushroom 
Kingdom. You will find the Mushroom Kingdom
filled with red Snifits bouncing around on pogo sticks. You don't need 
to fight all of the Snifits that are terrorizing the
townspeople, but some of the folks will reward you for saving them. Heal 
Mario and Mallow and save your game at the Save
Block in the Inn, then buy as many healing items as you can afford. Once 
you're ready, enter the castle and go into the Throne
Room. Fight Mack, the big sword, to get the first Star Piece. Mack has 
about 505 Hit Points, and the recommend Experience
Level for Mario and Mallow is 5. To defeat Mack, have Mario attack with 
the Hammer and have Mallow use his Thunderbolt
Special Attack. Use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you 
inflict and try to lessen the damage you receive by using
Timed Blocks. Once Mack is defeated, you're off to find the second Star 
Piece!

Get the second Star Piece

-Defeat Belome and access the Midas River 

After you have beaten Mack and received the first Star Piece, you're 
ready to go through the Kero Sewers. Go to the Item
Shop in Mushroom Kingdom and talk to the shopkeeper there. He will trade 
the Rare Frog Coin that Mallow has for the
Cricket Pie, which will come in handy later. Exit the Mushroom Kingdom 
to get to the World Map, then push Right on your
Control Pad to reach Kero Sewers. Once you've entered the pipe entrance 
to Kero Sewers, walk down and right and enter
the water. Swim to the right until you are in the shallow water, then 
jump out and enter the next pipe to reach a new room.
Work your way down and left until you find the bottom-left pipe, then 
enter it to go to the next screen. Walk down and right
and drop down to another Pipe, but DO NOT ENTER IT. Jump on to the ledge 
that in the upper-right corner and go down
and right until you find another pipe. Enter the pipe to go to the next 
screen, then go left and climb the stairs. Work your way
right to the Green Exclamation Switch and jump on it to drain the water. 
Drop back down to the lower level and enter the pipe
to return to the previous screen. Go down and left until you reach 
another pipe, and enter it to access the upper level of the
room you just came from. Walk up and right to the Save Block and save 
your game here. Go down and right and enter the
pipe there to reach Belome. Defeat Belome to reach the Midas River. 
Belome is a dog-like enemy that has a rather large
tongue and about 536 Hit Points. Level 6 is recommended for your party. 
Have Mario attack with the Hammer and Mallow
use his Thunderbolt Special Attack. Use Timed Hits to increase the 
amount of damage you inflict and try to lessen the damage
you receive by using Timed Blocks. Next, talk to Frogfucius in Tadpole 
Pond. 

-Visit Frogfucius in Tadpole Pond 

To find Frogfucius, complete the Midas River area and take the exit in 
the lower-right corner to go to the World Map. Push
Left on the Control Pad to move to the Tadpole Pond area and enter it. 
Go up and right to the round gray stone by the water.
Stand on the stone and talk to the tadpoles that appear and press the B 
Button when they mention Mario's jumping ability.
Frogfucius will float onto the scene and tell you to follow him. Jump 
across the tadpole bridge that forms and talk with
Frogfucius to learn more about Mallow's past and the people of Rose 
Town. If you traded the Rare Frog Coin with the person
in the Mushroom Kingdom Items Shop for the Cricket Pie, talk to 
Frogfucius again and he will give Mallow his first weapon:
the Froggie Stick. Don't forget to equip it! Go back across the bridge 
of tadpoles and head off to Rose Way. 

-See Bowser in Rose Way 

Rose Way has a series of floating blocks that move from location to 
location, but you can't jump off a block when it's blue.
Jump on the first block and ride it to the first place it stops, then 
hop onto the next floating block. Ride it to the second stop and
jump on the next block. Ride that block to the first stop, jump on to 
the next floating block, then ride it to the fourth stop and
jump down to the ground. Take the upper-right path to exit the screen 
and appear in an area with several floating Treasure
Boxes. Follow the path down and right until you reappear on the area 
with the water Jump on the floating block and ride it to
the first stop, then hop on the next block. Ride the block to its second 
stop, then drop down to the ground. Go down and right
to the next screen, then follow the path until you see Bowser and his 
Koopa Troop. Walk to the right to start the automatic
sequence. After Bowser stops talking to his troops, walk up to return to 
the World Map. Push Left on your Control Pad, then
press the A Button to enter Rose Town. Next, go to the Inn and meet Gaz. 

-Meet Gaz and Geno in Rose Town 

When you first arrive in Rose Town, the townspeople are getting stunned 
by arrows falling from the sky. Talk to everyone in
town, then go to the Inn in the bottom-left corner. When you enter the 
Rose Town Inn, you will enter an automatic sequence
where you a kid named Gaz plays with a bunch of dolls that look like 
Mario, Bowser, and Princess Toadstool. When Gaz asks
you to prove that you are the real Mario, press the B Button to 
demonstrate your legendary jumping skill. The automatic
sequence will continue until it goes to a screen with Mario resting in 
bed. Use the Save Box in the room, then go downstairs
and talk with Gaz and his mother. Exit the Inn and Rose Town to return 
to the World Map, then press Up on the Control Pad
to access the Forest Maze. 

-Defeat Bowyer to get the second Star Piece 

Once you've entered the Forest Maze, walk diagonally up and left to go 
to the next screen. Enter the hollow tree stump and
walk down and right to the spring. Jump on the spring to go to the next 
screen, then walk up and right to the next screen. Enter
the top-left hollow tree stump and enter it, then go up and jump on the 
sleeping yellow caterpillar to wake him. He will open a
hidden path and launch you back up to the surface. Take the new path up 
and left to the next screen and enter the hollow tree
stump, then follow the path down and right to the spring at the end. 
Jump on the spring to return to the surface and walk up to
find a Save Box. Save your game and walk up to enter an area that 
repeats if you don't plan your path carefully. If you make a
mistake in this maze, go down to return to the Save Box, then walk back 
up to the maze and start over. For the most part, you
just need to chase Geno, the living doll, to find your way. First, 
follow Geno and take the bottom-right path, then follow him
through the top-right path. Follow Geno through the top-right path 
again, then take the bottom-right path. Follow Geno and
take the top-right path on the next screen, then follow him up and left 
to enter an automatic sequence. At the end of it, you will
fight Bowyer for the second Star Piece. After defeating Bowyer, walk up 
and left to the exit to the World Map. Next, return to
the Rose Town Inn and learn about the third Star Piece.

Get the Third Star Piece

-Find Pa Mole in the Moleville Mine. Now that you have defeated Bowyer 
and retrieved the second Star Piece, return to Rose
Town and talk to Gaz in the Inn to receive Geno's Finger Shot weapon. 
Exit Rose Town to go to the World Map, then press
Left on the Control Pad TWICE to reach Moleville. Talk to the folks in 
Moleville to learn about Dyna and Mite, two kids who
have been trapped inside the Mine. Now is a good time to stock up on any 
weapons, armor or items your party needs. Watch
Bowser rally his troops in the top-right corner of town, then enter the 
Mine. When the moles in the Mine ask you to help them,
say yes, then jump on their heads to reach the door above you. Explore 
the Mine until you find Pa Mole, then talk to him to
learn that you need a bomb to blow up the walls. 

-Defeat Punchinello for the third Star Piece 

Return to the room with the spring and jump on it to knock yourself 
silly. No joke! This is the only way to encounter Croco,
who has the bomb you need. After you wake up and Croco runs off with 
your stuff, follow him (hold the Y Button to RUN)
and jump on his head to enter a battle. Defeat Croco to receive the 
Bambino Bomb, then return to Pa Mole. Talk to Pa Mole
to use the bomb and open a new path in the Mine. Enter the newly-opened 
path, go up and right to the next screen, then go
right and down to the next room. Take the top-right path to reach a room 
with a Save Box, then go up and right to find
Punchinello and some Bombs. Jump on Punchinello to enter the battle. (If 
Punchinello pushes you out of the room, don't worry
about it. Go back in and try approaching him from the side. He's nothing 
but a big bully.) Defeat Punchinello to get the third
Star Piece! After beating him, take the top-right path to the next room, 
then work your way down and left to reach a mine cart
with Dyna and Mite. Ride the mine cart to exit the Mine and return to 
Moleville. On to the fourth Star Piece!

Get the fourth Star Piece

-Defeat Knife Guy and Grate Guy in Booster's Tower 

Once you have retrieved the third Star Piece, exit Dyna and Mite's house 
to watch some Snifits chase a beetle. Exit Moleville
to get to the World Map, then push Left on the Control Pad to access 
Booster Pass. Work your way up and right through the
area until you return to the World Map, then press Left to access 
Booster's Tower. When you first approach the tower, watch
Bowser try to open the door. After Bowser leaves, walk up to the door 
and press the A Button to discover that the door is
locked. As you begin to walk away, Bowser will return, open the door, 
and join your party. Enter the tower and climb to the
top to find Booster's Toy Room. Take the door on the bottom-left side of 
the room to see Princess Toadstool on the balcony.
After an automatic sequence, Booster and his Snifits will enter the room 
and try to find you behind the curtains. Whether you
get caught or not, when the sequence ends, go through the bottom-left 
door to access the balcony. Defeat Knife Guy and
Grate Guy, then go left to enter Booster Hill. 

-Crash Booster's wedding in Marrymore 

Once you've defeated Knife Guy and Grate Guy in Booster's Tower, go left 
to enter Booster Hill. Follow the instructions to
race to the top of the hill and reach Marrymore. Talk to the people in 
front of the Wedding Chapel in the top-left corner of the
town, and Raz and Raini will automatically get thrown out of the Wedding 
Chapel. Face the Wedding Chapel's door and press
the A Button to talk to Snifit 1 and learn about the back 

entrance. Walk down and right until you are standing on the green grass, 
then hold Up on the Control Pad until you are just
past the edge of the first wall. Hold Left on the Control Pad to find 
the back door, hidden behind the wall. Go down the stairs
to find the bakery, where two cooks are working on the wedding cake. 
Take the stairs in the top-left corner, then walk up and
left until Snifit 1 says, "Get lost." Press the B Button to continue, 
and he will ask you to help him break down the door. You and
Snifit 1 must make contact with the door at the same time in order to 
break it down. After breaking down the door, you will
enter a room with a Save Box. You and Bowser will need to break down the 
next door to get in to the congregation hall. You
may want to save the game here while Bowser is trying to break down the 
door, since the next sequence can be difficult. To
break down the door, you and Bowser will need to make contact with the 
door simultaneously. This will put you in the
congregation hall, where Booster and Princess Toadstool's wedding is 
imminent. 

-Get Princess Toadstool to join your party 

Once you've entered the congregation hall in Marrymore, Princess 
Toadstool loses some of her possessions and the Snifits try
to retrieve them all. You need to talk to each Snifit to get the item 
they found, then get the crown on top of Booster's head and
talk to Booster. Chef Torte and his Apprentice will appear on the scene 
and attack your party. Instead of attacking Chef Torte
and his Apprentice, attack Bundt (the wedding cake in between them), who 
is the real boss. After you've rescued Princess
Toadstool from the wedding, Raz and Raini will talk to you. Talk to 
everyone in town for clues, then return to Mushroom
Kingdom. Enter the castle and go to the throne room to watch an 
automatic sequence, then exit the castle. As you walk
outside, Princess Toadstool will float down. Talk to her and she will 
join your party. Next, talk to Frogfucius and go to Star Hill
to recover the fourth Star Piece. 

-Retrieve the fourth Star Piece from Star Hill 

Once Princess Toadstool has joined your party, you're ready to get the 
fourth Star piece from Star Hill. Return to Tadpole
Pond and talk to Frogfucius to find out that a large star has been 
sighted at Star Hill. Exit Tadpole Pond and go back to the
World Map. Go left past Marrymore to reach Star Hill. This entire area 
has small stars on the ground, star shaped flowers, and
big stars with keyholes. The big stars lead to other screens and will 
only open after you've talked to all of the flowers in the
area. Explore the entire area and look carefully in every direction -- 
it's easy to miss things here if you're not careful. Work your
way through the area until you find the fourth Star Piece lying on the 
ground. Walk around the area to locate all of the flowers,
then enter the big star to exit the area. Next, go to Seaside Town to 
get clues about the fifth Star Piece.

Get the Fifth Star Piece

-Enter the Sunken Ship 

After finishing Star Hill, a path to the town of Seaside will open to 
the left. Enter the town and talk to the people to gather clues.
If there are any unusual items being offered by the shops in town, you 
may want to purchase them now, since the things offered
will change after you get the next Star Piece. Talk to the town elder in 
the top-left house to learn more about the Star Piece that
fell into the Sunken Ship. Be sure to talk to him at least twice to open 
the Sea area on the World Map. Exit town and enter the
Sea. When you first enter the Sea area, take the exit in the bottom-left 
part of the room. The guy in the blue coat is a shop. If
you buy something from him, he will give you some clues about the Sunken 
Ship. After you are finished, take the exit in the
bottom corner of the room. Walk down and left until you get past the 
wooden crates. Drop down to the lower level of the
room and take the exit in the bottom corner of the room. Work your way 
to the far-left side of the room and take the exit
there. Walk diagonally down and left and take the exit at the end of the 
path. Enter the water and move into the whirlpool to go
underwater. Work your way to left until you can see the Sunken ship, 
then jump up its sails until you reach the crow's nest (the
round, wooden structure above the sails). Stand on the crow's nest and 
push Down on the Control Pad to enter the Sunken
Ship area. Next, work your way through the Sunken Ship and defeat King 
Calamari. 

-Find and defeat King Calamari. 

*Puzzle Room 1 

The first puzzle room contains a single Flying Koopa, a cannon ball 
sitting on top of a pile of blocks, and a green Exclamation
Switch in the air. The Flying Koopa hovers back and forth above Mario's 
head. You need to move around the room to get the
Flying Koopa to push the cannon ball on to the green Exclamation Switch. 
Move to the top portal (the light-colored circle on
the top-left wall) and wait for the Flying Koopa to move above you. 
Then, move to the pile of blocks that the cannon ball is
sitting on and face the blocks. The Flying Koopa will move to follow you 
and knock a cannon ball down on the switch. Once
you've solved the puzzle you'll receive a mushroom that restores your 
Hit Points and a clue in the form of a memo left by
Magellan, which reads "There is an ‘s' in the word." 

*Puzzle Room 2 

The second puzzle room has three floating blocks, three moving springs, 
and one green Exclamation Switch. Hitting the floating
block will cause its corresponding spring to stop or start moving. After 
stopping all of the springs, a cannon ball will be
launched. If each spring is in its proper position, the cannon ball will 
make it across the room to the green exclamation switch
and you will get your reward. Stop the left spring within the light 
brown area, while it is touching the top-right edge of the area.
Stop the center spring within the light brown area, while it is touching 
the top-right edge of the area. Stop the right spring near
the top center of the light brown area. The reward for solving this 
puzzle room is a Flower Point increase and a clue in the form
of a memo left by Magellan, which reads "It is found on the bed of the 
ocean." 

*Puzzle Room 3 

The third puzzle room is a three-dimensional maze. You need to feel your 
way through the maze to get to the top of the blocks
and reach your reward. To complete it: Face the entrance of the maze 
near the bottom-left corner of the screen. Hold the
Control Pad diagonally Up and Left until you stop moving, then hold Up 
until you stop moving. Continue to hold Up and press
the B Button to jump once. When you stop moving, hold Right on the 
Control Pad until you stop again. Continue to hold Right
and jump -- this will move you a little farther in the maze. Keep 
holding Right and jump once more. After you stop, hold Left
on the Control Pad until you see Mario on the far-left side of the 
screen. The next step is tough! Hold Right on the Control Pad
until you appear in the open -- but be careful not to hold Right too 
long or you will fall in to a hole and you'll have to start back
at the beginning! Enter the door to the right and hold Right on the 
Control Pad until you see Mario on the right side of the
doorway. Jump on to the narrow ledge above you to the right. Hold Up on 
the Control Pad until you stop moving, then hold
Left on the Control Pad. When you stop moving, keep holding Left and 
jump once, then hold Up on the Control Pad and jump
a few times until you don't move any farther. Hold Right on the Control 
Pad until you stop moving, then hold diagonally Up and
Left and jump twice to get up near the switch. Jump on the switch to get 
your reward: Royal Syrup and a clue in the form of a
memo left by DeGama, which reads "It has two vowels." 

*Puzzle Room 4 

In the fourth puzzle room, there is a moving coin that leaves a trail of 
coins behind it. You need to follow the moving coin and
only pick up the coins that stop along the way. Those coins must be 
picked up before they disappear and in the order they
stopped in. Your reward is a clue in the form of a memo left by DeGama, 
which reads "It has four consonants." 

*Puzzle Room 5 

The fifth puzzle room has four floating blocks and three cannons in it. 

After you hit the far-left block to make the first cannonball appear, 
you will need to hit each subsequent cannonball into the
block above its path. Specifically: Hit the far-left block to make a 
cannonball fire out of the far-left cannon. Stand on the
shadow just to the right of the block and jump when the cannonball is 
overhead. This will make the next cannon ball fire from
the second cannon. Stand in the next shadow to the right and jump when 
the cannonball is overhead to make the last cannon
fire. Stand in the shadow to the right and jump when the cannon ball is 
overhead to get your reward. If you miss any
cannonballs, you will need to exit the room and try again. The reward 
for solving this puzzle room is a Mushroom and a clue in
the form of a memo left by Van Doren which reads, "At least two 
consonants are side by side." 

*Puzzle Room 6 

The sixth puzzle room has a Save Block, two green Exclamation Switches, 
a pile of blocks in one corner and a pile of barrels in
another. One of the barrels on the pile moves, so you need to maneuver 
it onto the right switch by jumping on it. When the
barrel is on the ground, jumping on it will move it in the direction 
OPPOSITE of the way Mario is facing. Jump on top of the
pile of barrels in the far right corner of the room. There is one barrel 
that is a little darker and a little larger than the rest. Jump
on top of that barrel to make it fall off of the pile, then jump on top 
of it. Face right and keep jumping until it stops on top of the
right green Exclamation Switch. Then, have Mario jump onto the left 
green Exclamation Switch. The reward for solving this
puzzle room is a Mushroom that will restore your Hit Points and Flower 
Points, and a clue in the form of a memo left by Van
Doren which reads "The ‘R' comes before the ‘L'" 

*King Calamari 

To find King Calamari once you have enough clues and you're ready to 
enter the password, walk up and right from the last
puzzle room and enter the door there. Enter the password by standing 
under each block and jumping to change the block's
letter. Set each block to the corresponding letter in the password: 
PEARLS. When you have finished, face the pipe opening in
the upper-right part of the room and press the A Button to speak. If you 
entered the password correctly, the door will open.
Enter the door to reach King Calamari, and defeat him to access a new 
area in the Sunken Ship. Next, find Jonathan Jones and
get the fifth Star Piece. Defeat Jonathan Jones to get the fifth Star 
Piece. Once you have entered the password in the Sunken
Ship and defeated King Calamari you will drop into a room with a spring 
and a door. Enter the door, jump to the upper level of
the room and enter the door there. Quickly walk up and right while 
avoiding the Bullet Bills being fired out of the cannons.
After you get past the first set of cannons, walk diagonally down and 
right, avoiding the Bullet Bills again, to the exit. Go down
the stairs and enter the door at the bottom. Work your way diagonally up 
and left and enter the door there to find a room with
a clone of Mario in it. Enter the door in the lower part of the room, 
then walk down and left through the exit at the bottom of
the next room. Go down the stairs to find a Save Block, then enter the 
door in the upper-right section of the room. Enter the
door at the end of the path, then hop in the water and move into the 
whirlpool to submerge. Enter the doorway at the top of the
underwater area, then go down the stairs and enter the door at the 
bottom. Go up and right, then jump up the barrels along the
far-right side of the underwater area to exit the water. Enter the door 
to find an automatic sequence with four sharks wearing
red bandanas. Fight your way through the Bandana Reds to go up the 
stairs and enter the door. Defeat Jonathan Jones and his
Bandana Blues here to get the fifth Star Piece. Next, return to Seaside 
Town and fight Yaridovich. 

-Defeat Yaridovich to regain the Star Piece 

After defeating Jonathan Jones, take the door in the far-right corner of 
the room and jump on the spring to return to the World
Map. Return to Seaside Town to enter an automatic sequence where you 
will be asked to hand over the Star Piece. Go ahead
and give in -- the Star Piece is going to be taken away no matter what 
you do here. Follow the path up and left to the beach
and talk to Yaridovich here to enter a battle. Defeat him to regain the 
fifth Star Piece, then pick up the Shed Key he leaves
behind. Unlock the door to the bottom-left building in the town to 
rescue the townspeople, then talk to the town elder in the
top-left building. He will mention a mouse that visited Seaside Town and 
talked about a star in Monstro Town. Talk to him
again to open the path on the World Map to Land's End. Next, go through 
Land's End to reach Monstro Town and learn
about the sixth Star Piece.

Get the Sixth Star Piece

-Go through Land's End to reach Belome's Temple 

Once the fifth Star Piece has been recaptured from Yaridovich, exit 
Seaside Town and enter Land's End on the World Map.
Use the blue cannon to reach the upper-right area, then walk up and 
right to reach another blue cannon. Use the cannon to
launch yourself into the hole in the upper-right platform, then jump out 
of the hole and work your way up and right through the
next two screens. If you fall off the upper ledge, use one of the blue 
cannons to get back up. Use the red spinning flowers to
work your way up the platforms and take the exit above the top platform 
to enter the next screen. Jump across the bridge of
floating do-nut blocks and go up to find a screen with a spring, a Save 
Block, and two whirlpools in the sand. Take any one of
the whirlpools to go to the next screen, then follow this rule: ALWAYS 
TAKE THE WHIRPOOL WITH THE ENEMY IN
IT. This will lead you to Belome's Temple. If you end up at a cliff with 
a sign that says "Climb Here," go down one screen and
hop in the whirpool with the enemy. You'll come back to this cliff 
later. Next, find and defeat Belome to go to Monstro Town. 

-Complete Belome's Temple to access Monstro Town 

Once you have reached Belome's Temple, walk up and take the stairs, then 
walk up and right until you reach a guy in the blue
cloak. Agree to have him tell your fortune for 50 Coins and follow his 
directions. Your fortune will fall down on a pile of bricks.
Get your fortune and use the bricks to jump up to the upper level of the 
room, then take the exit on the upper platform. Enter
the green pipe in the next room to find either a treasure chest or three 
enemies. (It depends on which fortune you received.) If
you get the three enemies, defeat them to open the big gate to the 
right. Enter the gate to go to the next room. Work your way
to the upper right corner and take the exit there. Talk to the guy in 
the blue cloak for some instructions, then jump up under the
statue head to get your fortune. If it says, "MMM I'm so hungry! Wish I 
had something to eat!" then the block in the bottom
right will take you to Belome. If it says, "Sorry, I'm not accepting any 
visitors past my bedtime," then it will take you to a
treasure room. You can only enter the treasure room if you have the 
Temple Key (which you cannot get until you reach
Monstro Town). After receiving the first fortune, jump on to the yellow 
block in the bottom-right part of the room and take the
exit at the bottom. If you don't get the fortune you want, exit the room 
and re-enter it, then get another fortune. Enter the Green
Pipe to get to Belome's Room. Defeat Belome and jump on the green 
Exclamation Switch to open the big gate, then enter the
Green Pipe to go to Monstro Town. Next, talk to Monstermama to get help 
climbing the Cliff. 

-Go through Bean Valley to reach Nimbus Land 

When you reach Monstro Town, enter the top-left door and talk to 
Monstermama. Go upstairs and talk to the pink star
standing on the cabinet and it will do a dance of sorts. Go back 
downstairs and talk to Monstermama a few more times. She
will summon the Sky Troopas to come and help you. After the Sky Troopas 
leave exit the house and take the spring in the
top-left corner of town to return to the Land's End area. Work your way 
back to the cliff that says, "Climb here." The Sky
Troopas will take positions on the side of the cliff so you can jump 
your way up to the top. This can be tricky! If you fall, just
keep trying. You'll make it! Take the path at the top of the area to 
return to the World Map, then press Up to access Bean
Valley. Go up to the two Green Pipes and enter the pipe on the right, 
then go up and left and enter the next pipe. Follow the
path up and left to reach a screen with a Save Block, several Green 
Pipes, and some Piranha Plants. Take the path up and left
to reach Smilax, and defeat him to access the Green Pipe below him. 
(Grab the Seed he leaves behind, too!) Stand under the
brick block in the next screen and jump to hit it with your head and 
make a vine appear. Climb the vine to reach a sky area
with funny, colored vines. Climb the multi-colored vines until you reach 
a trampoline, then jump on it to reach Nimbus Land. 

-Enter the Nimbus Land Castle and avoid Dodo 

When you first enter the town area of Nimbus Land, you will watch an 
automatic sequence where Valentina introduces
everyone to Dodo, the fake Prince Mallow. After it ends, talk to the 
people walking around town for clues, then enter Garro's
House in the top-left corner of the town (next to the stairs). Talk to 
Garro and stand next to the statue that looks like the
Mallow in your party. You will discover that Mallow is the real Prince 
Mallow, and Garro will ask if you are ready. Say yes
and Garro will make you look like a statue and take you to the castle. 
After you are put on a pedestal and Dodo walks out of
the room, walk off the pedestal and go up and left to find a small room 
with a Save Block. Try to enter the door here to enter
an automatic sequence where you're back on your pedestal and must avoid 
Dodo's attacks. Jump when Dodo tries to peck
you -- if you get hit, he will run to Valentina and talk to her again. 
If Dodo catches you too many times, you will have to fight
him. If you manage to avoid Dodo, you can pick up the Feather here. In 
any case, when the sequence is finished start exploring
for the Castle Keys. 

-Find the two Castle Keys 

After your episode with Dodo, enter the door to go to the next room. 
Watch the short automatic sequence, then walk up
through the door. Work your way up and right, then down and right to the 
exit. Go right and take the stairs, then enter the door
there. Go up to the main section of the room, then go up and left and 
take the top door. Walk up through the door at the end of
the room, then go down the stairs and exit to the right to find a room 
with a Save Block and some people. Talk to the guy in
the far-left corner of the room and accept the key he offers. This is 
the first Castle Key, which will open the door guarded by
the Heavy Troopa. Return to the Heavy Troopa, defeat it and enter the 
door behind it. The next room has a large nest with a
huge egg in it. Attack the egg to release Birdo, then defeat Birdo to 
receive the second Castle Key. Next, find and defeat
Dodo and Valentina. 

-Defeat Dodo and Valentina 

Once you have both Castle Keys, you need to find and defeat Dodo and 
Valentina. From where you defeated Birdo, use
Castle Key 2 on the door and enter it. Work your way up and right until 
you reach the door another Heavy Troopa is blocking,
and you will find Valentina and Dodo. Watch the automatic sequence, then 
follow them as they try to run away. To do this,
take the door at the top of the room, then follow the path up and right 
to the door. Continue up through two more doors and
you will fall down to the Hot Springs area. Jump on the Trampoline to go 
up one level, then jump on the trampoline to the left
to return to the town. Defeat Dodo and Valentina here to continue. 
Remember – the character in the MIDDLE of your current
party will automatically be chosen to fight Dodo alone, so make sure you 
have a fairly strong character there. Next, talk to the
King and go to the Barrel Volcano to look for the sixth Star Piece. 

-Fight the Axem Rangers for the sixth Star Piece 

Once you've defeated Dodo and Valentina, you can go to the Barrel 
Volcano. Talk to King Nimbus and Queen Nimbus to
learn about the Star Piece in the Barrel Volcano. Exit the Nimbus Land 
Castle and climb down the vine, then drop down
through the top right hole and talk to the two guards. Walk through the 
path the unblock to enter the Hot Springs, then exit on
the far-right side to fall into the Barrel Volcano area. Explore the 
Barrel Volcano and follow the path through the area. You will
find two Save Blocks in the volcano, and the Hino Mart, where Hinopio 
can outfit your party with new armor, weapons and
items. Take the lower door down out of the Hino Mart to reach the second 
Save Block, then hop your way across the do-nut
bridge. Defeat the Czar Dragon and Zombone, then go up and right to see 
the Axem Rangers for the first time. Watch them
steal your Star Piece, then chase them through the volcano until you 
reach the trampoline that takes you to their ship. Defeat the
Axem Rangers here to collect the sixth Star Piece, then head back to 
Nimbus Land and get the Royal Bus from King Nimbus.

Get the Seventh Star Piece

-Find the six doors in Bowser's Keep 

After defeating the Axem Rangers, return to the Nimbus Land Castle and 
talk to King and Queen Nimbus. They will give you
permission to use the Royal Bus. Exit the Castle and take the stairs on 
the far-left side of the town. Talk to the person there and
the Royal Bus will take you to Bowser's Keep. This will open a path on 
the World Map from Nimbus Land to Bowser's Keep
and re-open the path between Mario's Pad and Bowser's Keep. To reach the 
six big red doors in Bowser's Keep enter the
area and follow the path up and right. You will go through two red 
doors, across a normal bridge, a do-nut bridge and another
red door. When you reach the statue of Bowser, the area will become 
dark. Walk up and right to the wall, then walk down
and right to the end of the path. Follow the path to a Save Block and 
talk to Croco here. Go through the door in the top-right
corner of the room to find the six big red doors. Of the six doors, two 
lead to action courses, two lead to battle courses and
two go to puzzle courses. You can choose any door you wish, but once you 
enter one, you cannot turn back. You must
complete four of these rooms to move ahead. If you fail to complete one 
of the doors, you will be returned to this room. 

-Complete four of the six rooms

After you have completed 4 out of the 6 Big Red Doors, you will drop in 
to a room with a Save Point. Once you are done, go
through the Big Red Door to continue. 

Action Room 1 

The first action room begins with three Terrapins walking on an 
invisible floor. This room has three sections: the invisible floor,
the moving platforms, and the Donkey Kong section. You have 10 tries to 
make it all the way through this room and your
reward for completing it is the Super Slap. To cross the invisible 
floor: 

Walk up and left to corner. Walk up and right to the end of the path. 
Walk down and right to the end of the path. Walk up and
right until you come to a path going up and left. Walk up and left to 
the end of the path. Walk up and right until there is a path
going down and right. Walk down and right to the end of the path. Walk 
down and left to the end of the path. Walk down and
right to the end of the path. Walk down and right until you come to a 
path going up and right. Walk up and right to the door.
To cross the moving blocks: 

This section has a number of floating grey blocks that are moving back 
and forth. You need to jump between these blocks to
make it to the door in the top right corner of the room. Jump on the 
first platform and ride it up and right. When it stops, jump
over to the block that is a just down and left of it. Ride that platform 
up and right until it stops, then jump on the platform above
it on the left. Ride that platform up and right until it stops, then 
jump up and right and enter the door. To complete the Donkey
Kong section: 

This section is reminiscent of the original Donkey Kong arcade game, 
where Mario must avoid the barrels being thrown by
Donkey Kong to get to the top. After five barrels come down, one will go 
in a different direction. Then there will be a pause
before the pattern repeats. There's no trick to completing this section, 
just move carefully and keep practicing until you get it
right. 

Action Room 2 

There are three sections to this action room: Moving Block Section, 
Cannonball Section, and Spinning Block Section. There
are no tricks to crossing the moving blocks -- just be careful to not 
get too close to the large platform above them. In the
cannonball section, you need to move the cannonball in the room to the 
exit, while avoiding the two bomb enemies. To do this,
jump on the cannonball and direct it with your Control Pad. The spinning 
block section has two floating gray blocks in a room
that is filled with lava. When you jump on one block, the other will 
spin around you. You must jump back and forth between
the blocks until you get to the exit in the upper-right part of the 
room. When you complete this action room, you'll receive the
Sonic Cymbals. 

Battle Room 1 

You will meet a group of Gu Goombas at the beginning of the first battle 
room. The battle rooms only have one direction that
you can go, but you will have to fight a group of enemies between each 
set of statues in order to continue. There are
approximately 12 groups of enemies that you will need to fight. Your 
reward is the Star Gun. 

Battle Room 2 

You will meet a group of Terra Cottas at the beginning of the second 
battle room. The battle rooms only have one direction
that you can go, but you will have to fight a group of enemies between 
each set of statues in order to continue. There are
approximately 12 groups of enemies that you will need to fight. Your 
reward for making it through this room is the Drill Claw. 

Puzzle Room 1 

The puzzle room features Dr. Topper, the Quiz Master. It is divided into 
three major sections: quiz, barrel counting, and the
triathlon riddle. Your reward for finishing this room is Rock Candy. If 
you miss any of these puzzles, you will start over at the
room with the six doors. 

Quiz section: 

Dr. Topper will ask you 12 questions (all of which have been answered 
earlier in the game). Each one you answer correctly
will move you up one spot and every wrong answer will move you down two. 
If you get to the eighth step within 12 questions,
you win. 

Barrel counting: 

Dr. Topper will show you a pile of barrels and you will need to figure 
out how many are there within a certain time limit. The
actual number of barrels displayed changes each time you go to the room. 
You will have 10 seconds to count the first set of
barrels and 20 seconds to count the second set. 

Triathlon: 

This is the hardest section of the room to figure out. There are four 
characters (Kipp, Bones, Goo, and Boo) that are involved
in the riddle. They all participated in a triathlon and you will need to 
determine the order they finished in from the clues they give
you. When you are ready, talk to Dr. Topper and he will tell you to talk 
to each character in the order that they finished. The
order they finish in changes each time you enter the room. The clues 
given by each character will indicate the place they finished
in. When you've finished, talk to Dr. Topper and he will tell you if you 
got it right. 

Puzzle Room 2 

There are three sections to this puzzle room: the coin puzzle, the magic 
button puzzle and the cannonball solitaire puzzle. Your
reward for finishing this room is Rock Candy. If you lose on any of the 
puzzles, you will start over in the room with the six
doors. 

Coin puzzle: 

Mario and Dr. Topper will take turns getting the coins out of a treasure 
chest with 21 Coins in it. The person who takes the last
coin loses. Each character can take between one and four coins out of 
the box during their turn. Since the object is to have Dr.
Topper take the 21st coin out of the treasure chest, you must make sure 
that he does not take the 20th coin. The B Button on
your controller takes coin(s) out of the box. You must take at least one 
Coin on your turn. The A Button lets Dr. Topper take
his turn when you want to take less than four Coins. Here's a suggested 
strategy: 

Keep taking one coin until the total reaches 15. If it reaches 15 on 
your turn, let Dr. Topper go again. When it is your turn
again, take the 20th coin (and the ones in-between). Let Dr. Topper go 
again and he will be forced to take the 21st Coin and
you will win. If Dr. Topper lets you go and the total is above 15, take 
all the coins up to the 20th Coin and let Dr. Topper go
again. He will be forced to take the 21st Coin and you will win. 

Magic button puzzle: 

This room is filled with 16 buttons with exclamation marks on them. The 
ON buttons are down and dark blue, while the OFF
buttons are up and green. Each OFF button you jump on turns that button 
ON and switches the surrounding buttons to their
opposite position (i.e. ON buttons change to OFF and OFF buttons change 
to ON). The object of this puzzle is to get all of
the buttons in the OFF position. There are many ways to solve this room, 
but here's the easiest method, since it only requires
jumping on four buttons. Jump on the second button from the left in the 
bottom row. Jump on the far-right button in the second
row from the bottom. Jump on the far-left button in the second row from 
the top. Jump on the third button from the left in the
top row Cannonball solitaire: 

This room has 15 cannon balls. You will need to kick each cannonball 
over another cannonball to an empty location until only
one cannonball remains. To kick a cannonball, stand behind it and press 
the A Button. Make a diagram of all the possible
positions a cannonball can be in. Number the positions 1 through 16, 
starting from the top-left corner and working your way to
the bottom-right corner. When you are finished, the diagram should look 
a little like this:

Tah dah! Congratulations! 

-Defeat Smithy in the Factory for the seventh Star Piece Once you have 
completed four of the six doors in Bowser's Keep and
leave the room with the Save Block, you will enter a battle with a 
Magikoopa. After the battle, he will return to normal and be
one of Bowser's loyal followers. If you talk to him, he will restore 
your Hit Points and Flower Points, like an Inn. The upper
door leads to Croco's new hang-out, where you can buy items and good 
armor for everyone. When you're ready to go, walk
through the lower door to continue. There are a bajillion battles ahead, 
so make sure you're prepared! Work your way past the
Thwomps and defeat Boomer, then ride Chandeli-Ho to the top of Bowser's 
Keep. Defeat Exor to enter the gate to the Smithy
Factory and work your way up and right to a nut-and-bolt bridge. (You 
can jump on the trampoline if you want to return to the
World Map.) Jump on the nut and face the direction you want to go to 
move the nut that way. Go to the Save Block and save
your game, then continue right past three more nut-and-bolt bridges 
until you reach a green Exclamation Switch. Jump on the
switch to open a path and save at the next Save Block, then go right one 
room and jump on the trampoline to reach another
bridge. Cross both bridges here and jump on the trampoline, then defeat 
the Clock to make the third Save Block and another
trampoline appear. Work your way up by jumping across the conveyor belts 
and riding the floating blocks until you reach the
fourth Save Block. Go up and look for a room with a gray block covering 
a hole. Defeat the enemy to make the block
explode, then drop into the hole and defeat Cloaker and Domino. Enter 
the production area and walk up and left to meet the
Clerk. Defeat the Clerk and continue up tp talk to Toad. Buy any items 
you want, then go up and defeat the Manager.
Continue up and fight the Director, then save at the Save Block above 
him. Walk up and defeat the Factory Chief and
Gunyolk, then jump on the green Exclamation Switch to be carried into 
Smithy's lair. Defeat Smithy and Smelter to enter the
final battle, then defeat Smithy again and retrieve the seventh Star 
Piece. Geno can now restore the Star Road and wishes can
once again be granted. Congratulations!

Special Items 

Alto Card- The Alto Card is a membership card for the Juice Bar in 
Tadpole Pond. You'll get the card from Toadofsky after
you play the first song correctly at Melody Bay. 

Bambino Bomb- This Special Item is received after you defeat Croco in 
the Moleville Mine. Take it to Pa Mole in the mine to
open a cave that was blocked during the cave-in. 

Beetle Box- The Beetle Box is an insect cage that lets you collect 
beetles at Booster Hill. You can take the Beetles to the
shop that sold you the box and get money for them. The Beetle Box can be 
purchased at Beetles Are Us in Seaside for 50
coins AFTER you pay 100 Coins for the initiation fee. It can only be 
bought after you've found the fifth Star Piece and have
released the people of Seaside. 

Big Boo Flag- This flag is one of three that the Musty Fears ask you to 
find if you take a nap in their bed in Monstro Town.
(You can't find it if you didn't snooze there.) To find it, go to 
Yo'ster Isle and look between the letters "O" and "A" on the
racetrack goal line. 

Castle Key 1- The first Castle Key will be given to you by one of the 
former castle workers when you free them in the
Nimbus Land Castle. Use it to open the door guarded by the Heavy Troopa. 

Castle Key 2- The second Castle Key is received after you defeat Birdo 
in the Nimbus Land Castle. It will open the door
Birdo was guarding. 

Cricket Jam- The Cricket Jam can be found in the Kero Sewers by going 
through the Smoke Cave at Land's End. (This is
the cave with puffs of smoke emitting from it.) If you give the Cricket 
Jam to Frogfucius, he will give you 10 Frog Coins. 

Cricket Pie- Once you've destroyed Mack and received the first Star 
Piece, trade the Rare Frog Coin at the Item Shop in
Mushroom Kingdom to receive the Cricket Pie. If you give the Cricket Pie 
to Frogfucius in Tadpole Pond, he'll give you the
Froggie Stick, a weapon for Mallow. 

DryBones Flag- This flag is one of three that the Musty Fears ask you to 
find if you take a nap in their bed in Monstro Town.
It's found underneath the bed in the Pipehouse at Mario's Pad. To locate 
it, press the A Button while facing the bed. 

Elder Key- The Elder Key is found in Booster Tower, after you view the 
second set of Boosters' pictures in the correct order.
Use it open the door in the hall with the pictures. This leads to the 
Chomp -- Bowser's first weapon. 

Fertilizer- The Fertilizer is one of two items needed to make the 
Gardener in Rose Town grow a vine. The Fertilizer can be
found only after Valentina has been defeated. To locate it, push along 
the far-right side of Nimbus Land until you find an
invisible path. At the end of the path you will find a Shyster floating 
around. Talk to the Shyster and it will give you the Fertilizer
to keep you quiet. (The Seed is the other item you need for the vine.) 

Greaper Flag- This flag is one of three that the Musty Fears ask you to 
find if you take a nap in their bed in Monstro Town.
To locate it, stand behind the Welcome sign in Rose Town, face the sign 
and press the A Button. 

Rare Frog Coin- The Rare Frog Coin is a Special Item that was stolen 
from Mallow by Croco. To recover it, defeat Croco
in Bandit's Way. You can trade the Rare Frog Coin at the Item Shop in 
Mushroom Kingdom after Mack has been defeated to
get the Cricket Pie. 

Room Key- The Room Key is used to open the room holding the Zoom Shoes 
in Booster Tower. It's found on the floor with
some coins in the upper section of the tower. (This is the floor that 
looks like a gold and black checkerboard, and you get
attacked by enemies when you step on some of the tiles). 

Seed- The Seed is one of two items needed to make the Gardener in Rose 
Town grow a vine. (The other item is the
Fertilizer.) The Seed can be found in Bean Valley, after beating Smilax. 
It will float onto the screen above the location where
Smilax was. 

Shed Key- The Shed Key is a Special Item that unlocks the door to the 
building in the bottom-right corner of Seaside Town,
where the real townspeople are being held. You can find it after you 
have beaten Yaridovich and recovered the fifth Star Piece.

Soprano Card- The Soprano Card is the third and final membership card 
for the Juice Bar at Tadpole Pond. You can get it
from Toadofsky after playing the third song, "Monstro Town Star's Song" 
at Melody Bay. (The song's notes are La Ti Do Re
So Do Re Mi.) You must have already entered the first two songs and have 
reached Monstro Town before you can get this
card. 

Temple Key- The Temple Key is used to feed Belome in Belome's Temple and 
access a treasure room. The key is visible on
a ledge in Monstro Town. To get it, talk to the Thwomp in the second 
room from the left in Monstro Town several times.
Eventually, the key will fall off the ledge. 

Tenor Card- The Tenor Card is one of the membership cards that you can 
use at the Juice Bar in Tadpole Pond. It's given to
you by Toadofsky after entering the second song at Melody Bay. You must 
have already entered the first song and have
rescued Dyna and Mite from the Moleville Mine to get the Tenor Card.

Hidden Treasure Boxes 

Mushroom Kingdom Boxes 

There are three treasure boxes hidden in the Mushroom Kingdom. 

Inside the castle: The Treasure Box hidden inside the Mushroom Kingdom 
Castle can only be reached when you enter the
castle for the first time. When you enter the castle and talk Toad, 
follow him up the stairs and jump on his head BEFORE he
enters the first door. Then, jump on top of the door (there's a tiny 
ledge to stand on) and hop up to reveal the invisible Treasure
Box. Toad won't ever return to this hall, so this is the only chance 
you'll get to reach this box. Good luck! 

Item Shop's basement: There are two Treasure Boxes located in the 
basement of the Items Shop in the Mushroom
Kingdom. First talk to the person in the basement and follow his orders. 
When he tells you to jump, you'll find the first box.
Then, hop on the guy's head -- no kidding -- and let him carry you to 
the upper-right corner of the room. Jump up to reveal the
second Treasure Box. 

Bandit's Way

There is one Treasure Box hidden in Bandit's Way. 

To locate the Treasure Box in Bandit's Way, enter the second screen of 
the area and work your way up to the upper-right
corner. Jump on the red spinning flower there, then hold the Y Button 
and jump towards the blue flower. You'll reveal a box in
mid-air. 

Rose Town 

There are two Treasure Boxes hidden in the Rose Town. 

One Treasure Box can be found in the Item Shop. To find it, hop on top 
of the book shelf in the top-left corner of the
room, then jump up to reveal a box. 

The other Treasure Box in Rose Town is in the top-left house. (This is 
the house that has a Green Exclamation Switch
inside.) Go upstairs and jump on the bed to reveal a box in mid-air. 

Forest Maze 

There are six hidden Treasure Boxes in the Forest Maze. 

The first Treasure Box is located on the first screen of the Forest 
Maze. Go to the far-left corner and jump up to reveal
the box. 

The second Treasure Box is on the fourth screen of the Forest Maze -- 
just after you exit the first underground section.
Walk up and left from the tree stump that enters this area and jump to 
reveal the box. 

The third, fourth and fifth Treasure Boxes in the maze are located 
underground: On the fifth screen of the Forest
Maze, enter the lower-right tree stump. Look for the light spot down and 
left from the trampoline and stand on it. Jump up to
reveal the Treasure Box. 

     Jump on the trampoline to return to the surface, then go down the 
middle stump on the left side. Stand in the
     corner that is a slightly up and left from the trampoline and jump 
up to reveal the Treasure Box. This box can be
     confusing -- it says you missed and has no contents. 

     Return to the surface and enter the top tree stump. Walk to the 
top-left corner and jump up to reveal the Treasure
     Box. 

When you reach the Save Block on the ninth screen of the Forest Maze, 
walk to the top-right corner and jump up to
reveal the sixth Treasure Box. 

Yo'ster Isle 

There is one Treasure Box hidden in Yo'ster Isle. 

The Treasure Box in Yo'ster Isle is on the screen where the Save Block 
is located. (Walk up out of Yo'ster Isle's main
area to reach it.) Walk up and left from the Save Block and jump to 
reveal the Treasure Box. 

Booster Pass 

There are two Treasure Boxes located in Booster Pass. Both are located 
on the first screen as you enter Booster Pass from
Moleville. 

To find the first box, walk to the left side of the screen and stand on 
the bush that looks like a artichoke. Jump up to reveal
the Treasure Box. (This is above the cave that you open by pressing the 
switch in Booster Tower.) 

To locate the second box, go to the top-right corner of the screen (near 
the exit) and jump to reveal it. 

Booster Tower 

There are four Treasure Boxes hidden in Booster Tower. 

The first Treasure Box is located in the second room -- just after you 
enter the door on the top level of the room. Stand
on the black square near the uppermost corner of the room and jump to 
reveal the box. 

The second Treasure Box is found in the room where a Thwomp sits on a 
teeter-totter. Stand in the bottom-left corner
of the room and jump to reveal the box. 

The third and fourth Treasure Boxes are in the same room as the second 
Save Block. Stand on the Treasure Box in
the top-left corner of room and jump up to reveal a box. Then, go the 
bottom-right corner of the room and jump up to reveal
the other. 

Marrymore 

There is one Treasure Box is hidden in Marrymore. 

Enter the Inn and climb the stairs to the second floor, then enter the 
door. (You don't have to pay to enter this room).
Stand in the bottom-left corner of the bedroom and jump up to reveal the 
Treasure Box. 

Sunken Ship 

There is one Treasure Box is hidden in the Sunken Ship. 

The Treasure Box hidden in the Sunken Ship is located in the room with 
the clone of Mario in it. Jump off of the clone's
head near the center of the wall that runs diagonally up and left to 
reveal the Treasure Box. 

Land's End 

There are six hidden Treasure Boxes in Land's End. 

The first box is located on the first screen of Land's End. (It's 
important to come from Monstro Town or Seaside Town
to enter the correct section of Land's End.) Stand on the far-left 
corner of the floating block and wait until it reaches its highest
position, then hold Up on the Control Pad and press the B Button to find 
the Treasure Box. 

The second Treasure Box is located on an L-shaped plateau on the second 
screen of Land's End. To reach it, use the
cannon on the screen to launch you into the hole in the upper-right 
platform. Jump out of the hole and stand in the area down
and left of it. Jump up to find a hidden floating block. Go back to the 
cannon and use it to reach the floating block, then jump to
the upper platform. Walk to the far-left side of the platform and jump 
up to reveal the Treasure Box. 

The third Treasure Box is located in the top-right section of Land's 
End's fourth screen. Jump up between the two
blue flowers to reveal the box. 

The fourth box is found in the cave that smoke puffs out of. (Jump at 
the cave just as a puff comes out to enter it.) Once
you have entered the Smoke Cave, work your way left, past three Geckos, 
then walk all the way up and right. Walk up and
left and stand in the uppermost part of the screen, then jump up to 
reveal the Treasure Box. 

The fifth and sixth boxes in Land's End are found in the room after the 
big gate. To find one box, stand on the far-left
visible Treasure Box and jump. To find the other, go to the bottom of 
the stairs and stand in the corner between the two walls.
Jump up to reveal the box. 

Monstro Town 

There is one Treasure Box hidden in Monstro Town.

To find it, go to the door that exits the town. Stand between the bush 
and the wall, then jump up to reveal the box. 

Bean Valley 

There are three Treasure Boxes hidden in Bean Valley 

To find the first box from the entrance of Bean Valley, take the Green 
Pipe on the right side of the screen. Stand in the
far-left side of the screen and jump up to reveal the Treasure Box. 

The second and third Treasure Boxes in Bean Valley can be found by going 
down pipes on the fourth screen of the
area. First, enter the bottom pipe, then stand in the top-left corner of 
the screen and jump to reveal the Treasure Box. Then,
return to the surface and go down the far-right pipe. Stand on the 
far-right side of the screen and jump to reveal the Treasure
Box. 

Nimbus Land 

There are five Treasure Boxes hidden in Nimbus Land. Four of them are in 
the castle, and one is in the Item Shop. 

Item Shop: To find the hidden Treasure Box in the Item Shop, go to the 
left side of the room and stand on the middle box.
Run (hold the Y Button) and jump off the boxes to find the Treasure Box. 

Castle: To find the first Treasure Box in the Nimbus Land Castle, locate 
the room with three doors. Stand in the top-left
corner of the room and jump to reveal the box. 

     To reach the second box, enter the center door and walk up and 
right until you reach a visible Treasure Box.
     Stand on it and jump up to reveal a hidden box. 

     The third and fourth Treasure Boxes in the castle are in the room 
to the left of the second Save Block.
     To reach this room, go to the room with three doors and enter the 
top door. Go up and right through the next
     door to reach the room where these boxes are stashed. Walk down and 
right along the pink wall until you are one
     step past the wall, then jump up to reveal a Treasure Box. Next, 
stand at the bottom of the stairs and hold Down
     on your Control Pad until you enter the black area below the path. 
When you stop moving, hold Left on the
     Control Pad until you stop again, then jump up to reveal the 
Treasure Box there. 

Smithy Factory 

One Treasure Box is hidden in the Smithy Factory. 

Work your way through the Factory until you reach the second Save Block. 
Walk to the bottom-left corner of the room
with the Save Block, then jump up to reveal the Treasure Box.  

Accessories 

Amulet- You can receive the Amulet from Booster, after helping him get 
the Mario Doll off the shelf in Booster Tower. It
increases its wearer's Speed by five points, and increases Attack, 
Defense, Magic Attack and Magic Defense by seven points
each. 

Antidote Pin- The Antidote Pin increases its wearer's Defense and Magic 
Defense by two points each, and protects the
wearer from being poisoned. It can be purchased in the Mushroom Kingdom 
Item Shop, the Rose Town Item Shop, and the
Seaside Town Accessory Shop for 28 coins. 

Attack Scarf- You can receive the Attack Scarf in Monstro Town if you 
complete 30 consecutive Super Jumps in battle.
(Perform Mario's Super Jump Attack, then press the Y Button before 
landing on your opponent's head to jump again. Do this
30 times without falling off.) The Attack Scarf can be equipped only by 
Mario, and increases his Speed, Attack, Defense,
Magic Attack and Magic Defense by 30 points each. 

B'Tub Ring- The B'Tub Ring can only be worn by Princess Toadstool, and 
can be purchased at the Marrymore Inn/Shop for
145 coins. If you have the Princess use the Mystery Egg ten times while 
she has the B'Tub Ring equipped, the Mystery Egg will
transform in to the Lamb's Lure. (The Mystery Egg can be purchased in 
Moleville.) The B'Tub Ring has no effect on the
Princess's status. 

Coin Trick- The Coin Trick can be purchased from the Frog on the second 
floor of the Seaside Town Elder's House for 36
Frog Coins. Mario is the only character who can equip this item, and it 
has no effect on his status. The Coin Trick doubles the
amount of gold you would of normally receive at the end of a battle. 

Exp. Booster- The Experience Booster can be purchased from the Frog on 
the second floor of the Seaside Town Elder's
House for 22 Frog Coins. Whoever equips the Experience Booster will 
receive twice as many Experience Points as the rest of
your party. It has no effect on status and can be worn by everyone. 

Fearless Pin- This can be purchased at the Rose Town Item Shop and the 
Seaside Town Accessory Shop for 130 coins.
Everyone can equip it, and whoever wears it will be protected from Fear 
attacks. It also increases its wearer's Defense and
Magic Defense by five points each. 

Feather- This is dropped by Dodo in the Nimbus Land Castle if you avoid 
being detected by him. (If he sees you and makes
you fight him, he won't leave the Feather behind.) Everyone can equip 
the Feather, and it increases its wearer's Speed by 50
points, and increases Magic Attack and Defense by five points each. 

Ghost Medal- This is the reward for locating the 3 Musty Fears' flags. 
Everyone can equip it, but its effects remain
mysterious. The Ghost Medal supposedly increases its wearer's defensive 
powers, but no Status changes occur if you equip it. 

Jinx Belt- You will receive this item at Jinx's Dojo after defeating 
Jinx three times in Monstro Town. The Jinx Belt protects its
wearer against fatal attacks, while raising Speed by 12 points, Attack 
by 27 points, and Defense by 27 points. 

Jump Shoes- The Jump Shoes can be purchased in the Mushroom Kingdom Item 
Shop, the Rose Town Item Shop, and the
Seaside Town Accessory Shop for 30 coins. They allow Mario to damage 
spiked enemies (like Spikey in Bandit's Way) with
his Jump Attacks. They also increase Mario's Speed by two points, 
Defense by one point, Magic Attack by five points and
Magic Defense by one point. 

Quartz Charm- You can receive the Quartz Charm by defeating Culex in 
Monstro Town. It protects its wearer against fatal
attacks, increases their Attack and Magic Attack by 50%, and doubles 
Defense and Magic Defense. Anyone can equip it. 

Rare Scarf- The Treasure Box that holds the Rare Scarf is hidden among 
the clouds below Nimbus Land. Everyone can
equip it, and it increases its wearer's Defense and Magic Defense by 15 
points each. 

Safety Badge- The Safety Badge is received by defeating Hidon in the 
Sunken Ship. Anyone can equip it to prevent damage
from Poison and Fear attacks. It also increases its wearer's Defense and 
Magic Defense by five points each. 

Safety Ring- This item is found in a hidden room in the Sunken Ship, and 
can be equipped by anyone. It protects its wearer
from fatal attacks and prevents any negative conditions from affecting 
them. It also increases its wearer's Speed, Defense and
Magic Defense by five points each. 

Scrooge Ring- The Scrooge Ring can be purchased from the Frog on the 
second floor of the Seaside Town Elder's House for
50 Frog Coins. The Special Attacks of the character who has the Scrooge 
Ring equipped will only use half the Flower Points
that are normally needed. Any member of your party can equip it. 

Signal Ring- The Signal Ring can be found in Nimbus Land after defeating 
Valentina. Croco will drop it after you talk to him
in the far-right building in the village. The Signal Ring will make a 
ringing sound when you enter a screen where a Treasure Box
is still hidden. Very handy! It also increases its wearer's Speed by 10 
points. 

Troopa Pin- The Troopa Pin the reward for climbing the cliff at Land's 
End in under 12 seconds. It can be worn by anyone,
increases its wearer's Attack and Magic Attack by 50%, and increases 
Speed by 15 points. 

Trueform Pin- This item prevents you from being turned in a Mushroom or 
Scarecrow. It can be purchased at the Rose Town
Item Shop and the Seaside Town Accessory Shop for 60 coins, or found for 
free in the Kero Sewers after defeating the
Pandorite. Anyone can equip it, and it increases its wearer's Defense 
and Magic Defense by four points each. 

Wake Up Pin- The Wake Up Pin can be purchased at the Rose Town Item Shop 
and the Seaside Town Accessory Shop for
42 coins. It can also be received from the Vault Guard hiding in the 
Mushroom Kingdom's Guest Room for free, when Smithy's
forces are occupying the city. The Wake Up Pin protects its wearer from 
Sleep attacks, and increases their Defense and Magic
Defense by three points each. 

Zoom Shoes- The Zoom Shoes can be purchased at the Seaside Town 
Accessory Shop for 100 coins, or can be picked up
for free near the Mine Room in Booster Tower. Anyone can equip them, and 
they increase the wearer's Speed by 10 points,
Defense by five points and Magic Defense by five points. 

Super Mario RPG Secrets 

Mushroom Kingdom 

• Right when you go into Mushroom Kingdom, you'll see a house on your 
left. Try to go around it and you'll find someone
hiding behind the house. Talk to him occasionally, you'll find his 
advice helpful. 

• Go to Toadstool's room and look for an item on the right side of the 
fire place. You'll be able to find "Toadstool's ???".
(Hmm... I wonder what it could be.) Anyway, if Toadstool is not in your 
party yet, her grandma will give you a mushroom and
ask you to leave everything alone. If Toadstool is in your party, then 
she will say, "Stop peeking into other people's room!" 

• Go to the inn after you have rescued Toadstool and talk to the boy at 
the corner. You will be able to buy his GameBoy for
$500. 

• Don't talk to the guy who lost his wallet right after you get back to 
Mushroom Kingdom. If you come back later in the game,
he'll upgrade the thing he finds in your wallet. I tried this after I 
beat Star Hill, and I got a Flower Jar instead of a Frog Coin. I
guess that if you wait until practicaly forever, you could get something 
like a KeroKero Cola. 

Kero Sewers 

• In the first screen with rats running up and down the stairs go to the 
top where there is an "L" shaped stack of boxes jump in
the middle of the stack there is a hole. If you jump in the hole you can 
get a flower point. 

Tadpole Pond 

• There is a Juice Bar on the left. You'll need a membership card to buy 
some better items. You can get the Alto Card from
Toadafsky at Melody Bay if you play him Frogfucius' suite #18 (So La Mi 
Re Do Re Do Re). 

Rose Town 

• If you play with Gaz, from then on you will be able to stay at the inn 
for free! 

• If you stay overnight at the inn, you will be able to see Link (from 
Zelda) in the next morning. 

• There is a Gardener in the town. (In order to find him, you'll first 
have to talk to the mouse in Mostro Town.) When you give
him the Seed and the Fertilizer, you will get two Lazy Shells (one 
weapon and one armor). The weapon is extremely powerful!
The armor is also very powerful, but it decreases your attack power by a 
lot. 

• There is a guy that tells you the location of the secret treasure in 
the maze. He tells you "Left, left, straight and right."
Remember that the directions are relative to Mario, not to the screen. 

• When you go to Rose Town for the first time, DON'T talk to the guy 
walking by his house. Just stand on his head, jump and
steal his Treasure boxes, Go up a floor and get the hidden box over the 
bed, and get out of there without thinking about a
switch. After you go left, left, forward, and right, and beat the Forest 
Maze, go to the house, and hit the switch. Then tell the
truth and confess. He'll then give you a Frog Coin. 

Moleville 

• Check the item shop occasionally and talk to the person on the left. 
He sometimes has a few powerful weapons to sell, such
as the Frying Pan for Toadstool. 

• You can buy a Firework for $500 from a person in the house located at 
the top left corner. After you get the Firework, get
out of the house and you'll be able to see a little girl on the right 
side of the house. Give her the Firework and she will give you a
Shiny Stone in return. Go to the item shop and talk to the person behind 
the counter. He will trade your Shiny Stone with a
Carbo Cookie. Go to the very left of the town and talk to the girl. She 
will give you a Frog Coin for every TWO Carbo
Cookies you give her (What a rip off!!). And if you get on her seat and 
press down, you'll be teleported to Midas River. Note:
You might want to keep the Shiny Stone, since you can use it to open a 
door in Mostro Town. 

• Go back to Melody Bay and play the Moleville Blues (Mi Do So Do Re La 
Ti Do) to Toadafsky. He will give you a better
membership card, the Tenor Card, for the Juice Bar. 

Booster Tower 

• A clown (Knife Guy) will give you a Bright Card, the membership card 
to the Casino, if you beat him 12 times. 

• There is a Teeter Totter with a bomb on one side. Jump on the Teeter 
Totter from the ledge high above and you'll be able to
get the Masher (a powerful weapon for Mario). This is not easy and may 
take some time. 

• When you're in Booster Tower, you CAN fight Booster. When you are 
hiding behind the curtain, purposely let Booster and
his Snifits find you. After three times, he will make you fight him. 
When you fight him, You will take on all three Snifits first.
Attack using Mario, Mallow, and Bowser. Have Mario and Bowser do regular 
attacks, and have Mallow use his Thunderbolt.
After you defeat the Snifits, you will fight Booster. Have Mario, 
Bowser, and Mallow use regular attacks. In case your
wondering about what Booster says when you use Mallow's psychopath, 
Booster says, "This is like going outside without any
clothes on." Booster has 800 HP. This is no big fight, because he can't 
attack. If you fight him you will get 22 exp., 145 coins,
and a Flower Box! This is much more valuable than that dinky Amulet. 

Marrymore 

• There is an old guy on the first floor of the inn. Talk to him and he 
will offer you $100 dollars for your Bright Card. If you say
no, he will then offer you 5 Frog Coins for it. And if you say no again, 
he'll finally offer you 10 Frog Coins for the card. You
might want to sell the card to him after you have seen the casino. But 
once you sell it to him, you will have to pay him 15 Frog
Coins to get the card back. 

• If you have the money to spend, stay in the suite three times and you 
will get a Flower Jar in return. After the third time, you
will get a Frog Coin about every four times you stay at the suite. 

• While you are a bell hop in Marrymore(you know when you stay in the 
suite alot of times after your first night.) you can't save
because he says something about not getting any breaks, but there is a 
way, jump on the mushroom lady on the right wall and
run-jump onto the save point. If you reset it right after that and 
you'll see your customer by the counter then disapear and come
down the stairs. Don't talk to them or the game will freeze. Mario will 
stand as if he was going to take them up their room but
won't go. (note the customer disapearing and the freeze may only happen 
when the Mushroom couple are the cusomers) 

The Sunken Ship 

• In case you are having trouble, the password is "PEARLS". 

• In the Sunken Ship, when you get to the room with about five frog 
coins, go into the next room, go under and kill all the fish.
Some are really nice, and give you Royal Syrups! 

Seaside Town 

• I have one little tip for Yardovich. When he does his mirage attack, 
when you select your attack or your special attacks, the
first character the little pointer comes on is the real one. 

Casino 

• Throughout the game, you will only be able to find two main clues 
about the casino. One of them tells you the location, and
the other one tells you how to get in. Here is the way to get in: First, 
you must have the Bright Card (refer back to Booster
Tower). Then, go to Bean Valley and go all the way until you see the 
save point at the end. Now wait for the monster to water
the top plant and defeat the flower. Then go into the pipe and defaet 
Chomp Chomp. You will then see a hidden path after you
jump three times at the corner. 

• To get the Star Egg You have to beat Grate Guy at the Look Away Game 
100 times. To play it, keep talking to him until he
lets you play. 

Monstro Town 

• Fight Jinx three times and he will give you the Jinx Belt. 

• There is a bed in one of the rooms. Take a nap and three ghosts will 
appear. They will ask you to find the three flags that they
have hidden throughout the world. Here are the locations of the flags: 

-Mario's bed at Mario's Pad. 

-The wooden flower in Rose Town. The flower is right at the entrance. 

-On the goal line at Yo'ster Isle. Check between the letters "O" and "A" 
of the word "GOAL". 

• There is a key in the town. You should be able to see it; but you 
could never reach it. Go into the room next to the item shop
and talk to the monster that says "Don't you dig these vibes?". After 
talking to it about five times, the key will drop on the
ground. Take the key back to Belome Temple and find Belome. He will ask 
you to give him the key. In return, you will be
given some treasures. 

• There is a sealed door located next to the item shop. You can open it 
with the Shiny Stone that you got earlier in Moleville.
Defeat the monster (Culex) and it will give you the Quartz Charm. 

• This is the best way to beat Culex without being leveled up real high. 
First you equip the Princess with the Lazy Shell and the
Safety Pin. (This will prevent her from all attacks, even fatal 
attacks!) When you go into battle, have Mario, Bowser, and
obviously, the Princess. Have Mario and Bowser fight for all they're 
worth. The Princess should give group hugs. Once Mario
and Bowser are left without HP, DO NOT BRING THEM BACK! It will be very 
hard for Culex to kill the Princess, because
she has such bulky defense. Have the Princess just attack Culex, and use 
her therapy spell. After a while, the enemies start
losing their FP. When two or more Monsters are out of FP, Bring Bowser 
and Mario back. Then attack Culex's butt off! This
plan will help you get past everybody, even Smithy. 

• Go to the second floor of the first room on the left. Talk to the star 
and try to remember the song (La Ti Do Re So Do Re
Mi) that it dances with. Go back to Melody Bay and play the song to 
Toadafsky. He will give you another membership card,
the Soprano Card . 

Nimbus Land 

• Walk all the way to the farthest right of the land. Now press down and 
after less than two seconds, you will see Mario
walking in the air. Talk to the monster Shy Away and it will give you 
the Fertilizer. 

Bowser's Keep 

• In the puzzle room one for the triathalon thing, the person who says, 
"I out rode blank on my bike, and blank was never able
to pass me!" is the one that always finshes first. The person that 
finshes second is the one that says, "I fell into 4th place during
the bike race, but finally ended up in the same place as I did in the 
swimming event." The third place person would say, "I
placed the same in the swimming and cycling events, but 2 others beat me 
in the marathon." And the last place would say, "I
came in 3rd for swimming..." 

Miscellaneous 

• When you're on the menu screen, push the R & L buttons + a direction, 
and watch what happens. You can do this whenever
you want. I'm not gonna tell you what happens though. 

• After you get the Princess, save the game after you talk to the 
Chancelor, Frofucious, and everybody else, save it. Then play
like you normally would, starting from Star Hill. Go all the way to the 
end of the Volcano, but you must promise me one thing.
DON'T SAVE IT! If you get up to the end of the volcano, and win, go to 
Culex and beat him. he offers a whopping 200
something Exp. points. Then go to Bowser's Keep, face Smithy in the 
Factory, and lose on purpose. You'll start at wherever
you saved, whenever you saved, but you STILL have the Exp. you had when 
you died. 

Bosses 

Bowser 

Bowser is the same green dinosaur that Mario has had to face in 
countless other adventures. Attack the Kinklink, the chain holding the
chandelier, instead of attacking Bowser himself. When Kinklink is 
destroyed, Bowser will fall. The Kinklink has about 75 Hit Points. 
Attack
using Timed Hits and try to lessen the damage you receive by using Timed 
Blocks. 

The Hammer Brothers 

The Hammer Brothers are two turtles with black shells and helmets that 
are blocking a path in Mushroom Way. They have 50 Hit Points each
and you should be at least Level 2. Attack each of them using Timed Hits 
and try to lessen the damage they give you by using Timed Blocks. If
you are having trouble defeating them, you can build your level up in 
this area by fighting lots of Spikes and Sky Troopas. Once you have
defeated them you'll receive the Hammer. 

Croco 

Croco is a purple crocodile that you will encounter in various locations 
throughout the game. Bandit's Way is the first place where you will
actually have to fight him. You will also have to fight Croco later in 
the Moleville Mine. Croco has about 582 Hit Points. The only party
members available at this point are Mario and Mallow, and both should be 
near Level 4. Have Mario attack with the Hammer and have Mallow
use his Thunderbolt spell. Use Timed Hits to increase the amount of 
damage you inflict and try to lessen the damage he gives you by using
Timed Blocks. 

Mack 

Mack is a sword-shaped enemy you encounter in the Mushroom Kingdom. Mack 
has about 505 Hit Points. The only party members available
to fight Mack are Mario and Mallow and they should be near Level 5. Have 
Mario attack with the Hammer and have Mallow use his
Thunderbolt spell. Use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you 
inflict and try to lessen the damage you receive by using Timed
Blocks. 

Belome 

Belome is a dog-like enemy that has a rather large tongue. Kero Sewers 
is the first place you will encounter him. Belome has about 536 Hit
Points, and your party should be near Level 6 for this battle. Have 
Mario attack with the Hammer and have Mallow use his Thunderbolt spell 
or
punch attack. Use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you 
inflict and try to lessen the damage you recieve by using Timed Blocks. 

Bowyer 

Bowyer is a bow-like creature that has three squares representing 
buttons on the controller in front of him. He will periodically launch 
arrows
that strike one of the buttons. The button it strikes cannot be used 
until he hits another button. Bowyer is found in the Forest Maze and has
about 768 Hit Points. Mario, Mallow, and Geno will be in this battle and 
should be around Level 7. Have Mario attack with the NokNok Shell,
Mallow use the Ribbit Stick, and Geno use the Geno Beam. As always, use 
Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and try to
lessen the damage you receive by using Timed Blocks. 

Croco (Again) 

When you encounter Croco in the Moleville Mine, Mario, Mallow, and Geno 
should be around Level 8. Have Mario attack with the Punch
Glove, Mallow use the Froggie Stick, and Geno use the Finger Shot. As 
always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict
and try to lessen the damage they give you by using Timed Blocks. 

Punchinello 

Punchinello is an enemy with purple arms that is shaped like the letter 
M. It will make bombs of various sizes appear to try and defeat you.
Punchinello is found in the Moleville Mine and has about 1248 Hit 
Points. Your party should be near Level 8. Have Mario attack with the 
Punch
Glove, Mallow use the Ribbit Stick, and Geno use the Finger Shot. As 
always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and
try to lessen the damage they give you by using Timed Blocks. 

Knife Guy And Grate Guy 

Knife Guy and Grate Guy are two clown-like enemies. Knife Guy has a 
dagger in his hand and Grate Guy balances on a ball. You will fight them
in Booster Tower. Knife Guy has about 788 Hit Points and Grate Guy has 
about 977 Hit Points. Use Mario, Geno, and Bowser for this battle and
make sure their experience levels around 10. Concentrate your attacks on 
either Knife Guy or Grate Guy until one of them is destroyed, then
attack the other one. Have Mario use the Masher, Geno use the Finger 
Shot, and Bowser use the Chomp. As always, use Timed Hits to increase
the amount of damage you inflict and try to lessen the damage they give 
you by using Timed Blocks. You will receive a Flower Jar for defeating
them. 

Bundt 

Bundt starts off as a huge wedding cake with candles on top of it. As 
the battle progresses, the candles go out. Eventually, the enemy's name
turns to Raspberry. You will encounter Bundt in Marrymore. Bundt has 
about 2751 Hit Points and Mario, Geno, and Bowser should be at Level
11. Concentrate your attacks on the cake and ignore Chef Torte and his 
assistant -- they will run away from the battle. Have Mario use the
Masher, Geno use the Hand Gun, and Bowser use the Chomp. As always, use 
Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and try
to lessen the damage you receive by using Timed Blocks. 

King Calamari 

King Calamari is a large white squid in the Sunken Ship. In the first 
two rooms of the battle, all you will see are his tentacles which you 
need to
destroy to move on to the next screen. King Calamari has about 3200 Hit 
Points and you should use Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser.
Level 12 is recommended. Have Mario use the Masher, Princess Toadstool 
heal the party with Group Hug or attack with the Slap Gloves, and
Bowser use the Chomp. As always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount 
of damage you inflict and try to lessen the damage you receive by
using Timed Blocks. 

Jonathan Jones 

Jonathan Jones is a large blue shark with a pitchfork who resides in the 
Sunken Ship. He will eventually turn red and then challenge Mario to a
one-on-one fight. Jonathan Jones has about 565 Hit Points until he 
decides to fight Mario one on one; then he has about 860 Hit Points. The
four Blue Bandanas have about 220 Hit Points each. Use Mario, Mallow, 
and Bowser at Level 13. Have Mario use the Masher, Mallow use
Thunderbolt and HP Rain, and Bowser use the Hurly Gloves. As always, use 
Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and try to
lessen the damage you receive by using Timed Blocks. 

Yaridovich 

Yaridovich is a skeleton-like enemy wearing a red cape, who has a spear 
in its hand. He is located at Seaside Town. Yaridovich has about 1600
Hit Points. Any points wasted on hitting the wrong version of Yaridovich 
during his Mirage Attack will not count. Use Mario, Princess
Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 14. Have Mario use the Masher, Princess 
Toadstool heal the party with Group Hug or attack with the Slap
Gloves, and Bowser use the Hurly Gloves. As always, use Timed Hits to 
increase the amount of damage you inflict and try to lessen the
damage they give you by using Timed Blocks. When Yaridovich uses the 
Mirage Attack, he will split into two images. The one that takes the
least amount of damage is the real one -- attack it for you're worth! 

Belome 2 

Land's End is the second place where fight this dog-like enemy. Belome 2 
has about 1290 Hit Points. Use Mario, Princess Toadstool, and
Bowser at Level 16. Have Mario use the Masher, Princess Toadstool heal 
the party with Group Hug or attack with the Parasol, and Bowser use
the Hurly Gloves. As always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of 
damage you inflict and try to lessen the damage you receive by using
Timed Blocks. 

Smilax 

Smilax is a Piranha Plant in Bean Valley that has multiple heads. There 
will be a Shyguy that fertilizes it to make it grow. Smilax has about 
1290
Hit Points. Use Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 18. Have 
Mario use the Masher, Princess Toadstool heal the party with Group
Hug or attack with the Parasol, and Bowser use the Spiked Link. As 
always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and
try to lessen the damage they give you by using Timed Blocks. 

Culex 

Culex is a purple demon with red wings and horns who is found in Monstro 
Town behind the locked door.  You may remember him from Final
Fantasy 2, complete with FF2 music. You don't have to defeat him to win 
the game! There are four crystals (red, blue, yellow, and green) that 
are
between your party and Culex. Culex has about 4320 Hit Points. The Red 
Fire Crystal has about 2704 HP. The Blue Water Crystal has about
1890 HP. The Yellow Earth Crystal has about 3270 Hit Points. The Green 
Air Crystal has about 800 Hit Points. Have Mario, Princess Toadstool,
and Bowser in your party and make sure they're at Level 26 or higher. 
Have Mario use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the party with
Group Hug or attack with the Frying Pan, and Bowser use the Drill Claw 
if you have it. As always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of
damage you inflict and try to lessen the damage you receive by using 
Timed Blocks. 

Shelly And Birdo 

Shelly and Birdo will look very familiar to veterans of Super Mario 
Brothers 2! This enemy starts off as an egg, then hatches to reveal a 
pink
dinosaur that shoots eggs. You will find them in the Nimbus Land Castle. 
Shelly has about 720 Hit Points and Birdo has about 820 Hit Points.
Use Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 21. Have Mario use 
the Mega Glove, Princess Toadstool heal the party with Group Hug or
attack with the War Fan, and Bowser use the Spiked Link. As always, use 
Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and try to
lessen the damage they give you by using Timed Blocks. 

Dodo 

Dodo is a big, black bird that wears a helmet. If you successfully avoid 
Dodo, you won't fight him in your first encounter with him in the
Nimbus Land Castle. Dodo has about 920 Hit Points and using Mario, 
Princess Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 20 is recommended. Have Mario
use the Mega Glove, Princess Toadstool heal the party with Group Hug or 
attack with the War Fan, and Bowser use the Spiked Link. As
always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and 
try to lessen the damage you receive by using Timed Blocks. 

When you fight Dodo for the second time, he will carry off the second 
member of your party. Be sure to have a strong character, like Bowser, 
in
that position! Dodo has about 410 Hit Points this time. Timed Hits and 
Timed Blocks are still a good idea here. 

Valentina 

Valentina is a tall enemy who has a green parrot on her head. She is 
sitting on a crescent shaped platform that is suspended in the air in 
Nimbus
Land. Valentina has about 2060 Hit Points and using Mario, Princess 
Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 23 is recommended. Concentrate all of
your attacks on Valentina, since it doesn't matter if you attack Dodo at 
all. Have Mario use the Mega Glove, Princess Toadstool heal the party
with Group Hug or attack with the War Fan, and Bowser use the Spiked 
Link. As always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you
inflict and try to lessen the damage they give you by using Timed 
Blocks. 

Czar Dragon And Zombone 

Czar Dragon is a dragon made of lava in the Barrel Volcano. Zombone is a 
dragon skeleton that appears after you have done a lot of damage to
Czar Dragon. Czar Dragon has about 1420 Hit Points, then changes to 
Zombone who has about 480 Hit Points. Use Mario, Princess Toadstool,
and Bowser at Level 24. Have Mario use the Lazy Shell, Princess 
Toadstool heal the party with Group Hug or attack with the War Fan, and
Bowser use the Spiked Link. As always, use Timed Hits to increase the 
amount of damage you inflict and try to lessen the damage you receive
by using Timed Blocks. 

Axem Rangers 

The Axem Rangers are a group of five enemies: one wearing pink, one 
wearing black, one wearing red, one wearing yellow, and one wearing
green. They fight for evil and struggle for chaos. They also give the 
least amount of money and experience for the amount of work required to
defeat them. You will encounter them in the Barrel Volcano. 

Axem Pink has about 440 Hit Points, Axem Green has about 660 Hit Points, 
Axem Yellow has about 620 Hit Points, Axem Red has about 1040 Hit
Points, and Axem Black has about 720 Hit Points. The Axem Rangers Ship 
has about 1040 Hit Points. Use Mario, Princess Toadstool, and
Bowser at Level 26. 

Attack the Rangers one at a time, starting with Axem Pink, then defeat 
Axem Green, Axem Yellow, Axem Red, and Axem Black in that order. You
will then have to fight the head of the ship, which is just called Axem 
Rangers. Have Mario use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the
party with Group Hug or attack with the War Fan, and Bowser use the 
Spiked Link. As always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of
damage you inflict and try to lessen the damage they give you by using 
Timed Blocks. 

Boomer 

Boomer looks like a red armored robot that turns blue during the battle. 
He is located in Bowser's Keep and has about 2160 Hit Points. Have
Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser in your party and built-up to 
Level 26. Have Mario use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the
party with Group Hug or attack with the Frying Pan, and Geno use the 
Star Gun. As always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage
you inflict and try to lessen the damage you receive by using Timed 
Blocks. 

Exor 

Exor looks like a giant sword handle with eyes and is located in 
Bowser's Keep. This is the same sword that crashed in to Bowser's Keep 
in the
beginning of the game. It will take about 1210 Hit Points to disable an 
eye and about 1870 Hit Points to destroy Exor. Have Mario, Princess
Toadstool, and Bowser in your party and built up to Level 26. Have Mario 
use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the party with Group
Hug or attack with the Frying Pan, and Geno use the Star Gun, except use 
Geno Whirl on the eye, and it will kill it automatically. As always, use
Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and try to 
lessen the damage you receive by using Timed Blocks. 

Clock 

Clock is a giant alarm clock located at the Factory. The face of the 
clock is called Count Down and the two bells are called Ding-A-Ling. 
Each
bell of Ding-A-Ling has about 1220 HP. Count Down, the main part has 
about 2588 HP. Use Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 27.
Attack the two bells first, then attack the face of the clock. Have 
Mario use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the party with Group 
Hug or
attack with the Frying Pan, and Bowser use the Drill Claw. As always, 
use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and try to
lessen the damage they give you by using Timed Blocks. 

Cloaker And Domino 

Cloaker has a white beard and moustache, and carries a sword and a round 
shield. Domino is wearing a purple executioner's mask and a blue
cape. Cloaker uses physical attacks, while Domino uses special attacks. 
They are found at the Gate and have about 1200 Hit Points each. Use
Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 27. You only have to 
defeat one of them, so it is better to concentrate your attacks on 
Domino.
Have Mario use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the party with 
Group Hug or attack with the Frying Pan, and Bowser use the Drill Claw.
As always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict 
and try to lessen the damage they give you by using Timed Blocks. 

Earthlink And Adder 

Earthlink and the Mad Adder are names used for a giant, purple cobra 
that merges with either Domino or Cloaker. If you destroyed Domino,
then the snake will be called Earthlink. If you defeated Cloaker, then 
the snake would be called Mad Adder. This boss has about 2800 Hit
Points. Use Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 27. 
Concentrate your attacks on the snake instead of the other enemy. Have 
Mario
use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the party with Group Hug or 
attack with the Frying Pan, and Bowser use the Drill Claw. As always,
use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and try to 
lessen the damage you receive by using Timed Blocks. 

Clerk 

The Clerk is a short, gold knight with a black shield and a big axe. 
This is the first enemy you meet in Smithy's Factory. The Clerk has 
about 571
Hit Points. Use Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser in your party at 
Level 27. Attack the Clerk firs, then attack the rest of the enemies. 
Have
Mario use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the party with Group 
Hug or attack with the Frying Pan, and Bowser use the Drill Claw. You
may want to use some of your Special Attacks that affect all of the 
enemies to help get rid of the Mad Mallets and still damage the main 
enemy.
Try Princess Toadstool's Psych Bomb and Bowser's Bowser Crush. As 
always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict
and try to lessen the damage you receive by using Timed Blocks. 

Manager 

The Manager is a short, blue knight with a black shield and a big axe. 
This is the second enemy in Smithy's Factory. The Manager has about
890 Hit Points. Use Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 27. 
Attack the Manager first, then finish off the rest of the enemies. Have
Mario use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the party with Group 
Hug or attack with the Frying Pan, and Bowser use the Drill Claw. You
may want to use some of your Special Attacks that affect all of the 
enemies to help get rid of the Pounder and still damage the main enemy. 
Try
using Princess Toadstool's Psych Bomb and Bowser's Bowser Crush. As 
always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict
and try to lessen the damage you receive by using Timed Blocks. 

Director 

The Director is a short, red knight with a black shield and a big axe in 
Smithy's Factory. The Director has about 1040 Hit Points. Use Mario,
Princess Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 27. You should concentrate your 
attacks on the Director first, then finish off the rest of the enemies.
Have Mario use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the party with 
Group Hug or attack with the Frying Pan, and Bowser use the Drill Claw.
You may want to use some of your Special Attacks that affect all of the 
enemies to help get rid of the Poundettes and still damage the main
enemy. Try using Princess Toadstool's Psych Bomb and Bowser's Bowser 
Crush. As always, use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage
you inflict and try to lessen the damage you receive by using Timed 
Blocks. 

Factory Chief And Gunyolk 

The Factory Chief has black armor and purple shoes. Gunyolk is a large, 
metal vat with molten metal inside of it. Gunyolk has about 1450 Hit
Points and the Factory Chief has about 1020 Hit Points. Use Mario, 
Princess Toadstool, and Bowser at Level 27. Attack Gunyolk first, since 
it
uses a lot of Special Attacks that affect your entire party. Then attack 
the Factory Chief to finish off the battle. Have Mario use the Lazy 
Shell,
Princess Toadstool heal the party with Group Hug or attack with the 
Frying Pan, and Bowser use the Drill Claw. As always, use Timed Hits to
increase the amount of damage you inflict and try to lessen the damage 
you receive by using Timed Blocks. 

Smithy And Smelter 

Smithy has curly beard, long mustache, and bushy eyebrows. He wears a 
crown and a carries a huge hammer. Smelter is a golden spout on the
far left side of the screen. Smelter has about 1590 Hit Points, Smithy 
has about 2060 Hit Points and the Shysters, that the Smithy makes, have
about 550 Hit Points each. Have Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser in 
your party and built up to Level 28 or higher. Attack the Smelter
first, or it will help Smithy produce more Shysters, which use Special 
Attacks that affect your entire party. Then finish off Smithy and any
Shysters you have left. Have Mario use the Lazy Shell, Princess 
Toadstool heal the party with Group Hug or attack with the Frying Pan, 
and
Bowser use the Drill Claw. You may want to use some of your Special 
Attacks that affect all of the enemies to help get rid of the Shysters 
and
still damage the main enemies. Try using Princess Toadstool's Psych Bomb 
and Bowser's Bowser Crush. As always, use Timed Hits to increase
the amount of damage you inflict and try to lessen the damage they give 
you by using Timed Blocks. 

Smithy 

When Smithy turns in to his true form, he has a head that looks like a 
toaster, a metal block for a body, and a huge hammer in his hand. 
Smithy's
head will transform into a tank, wizard, mailbox, and a blue hexagonal 
box. Each head has different attributes. The tank does powerful attacks.
The wizard uses Special Attacks that affect all of your party members. 
The mailbox hides a creature that tries to eliminate one of your party
members. The blue hexagonal box has the highest defense. Smithy's head 
has about 8040 Hit Points and Smithy's body has about 1300 Hit
Points. Have Mario, Princess Toadstool, and Bowser in your party and 
built up to Level 28 or higher. Concentrate your attacks on Smithy's
head. Use power-up items like Crystalline and Power Blast. Have Mario 
use the Lazy Shell, Princess Toadstool heal the party with Group Hug or
attack with the Frying Pan, and Bowser use the Drill Claw. As always, 
use Timed Hits to increase the amount of damage you inflict and try to
lessen the damage they give you by using Timed Blocks. 

Mario

 

Weapons

Hammer - This is the first weapon Mario will receive, and the 
description when equipping this weapon says 'Pounds enemies'.
Mario swings the Hammer down the enemy's head. If you do a Timed Hit 
correctly, swings the hammer down a second time.
The Hammer increases has an attack rating of 10 and is found in the 
third screen of Mushroom Way, after defeating the
Hammer Bros. 

Lucky Hammer - Described in the game as 'A lucky Hammer", Mario swings 
the hammer down on the enemy's head.
Although the Lucky Hammer has a 0 attack rating, you will receive Coins 
for hitting an enemy with it. If you do the timed hit
correctly, it will say lucky and at the end of the battle you can play 
the Egg Game to double the experience points from the
battle. The Lucky Hammer can be purchased at the Seaside Town Weapon and 
Armor Shop for the price of 123 coins. 

Super Hammer - Described in the game as 'The standard for hammer', Mario 
swings the hammer down on the enemy's head.
If you do the timed hit correctly, he would swing the hammer down a 
second time. This is one of the stronger hammers, but is
not as strong as the Masher. The Super Hammer has an attack rating of 
40, and can be purchased at the Marrymore Inn/Shop,
the Seaside Town Weapon and Armor Shop, the Sea Item Shop, and the 
Sunken Ship Salesman for a blowout price of 70
coins. 

Ultra Hammer - Described in the game as 'The ultimate hammer', Mario 
swings the hammer down on the enemy's head. If
you do the timed hit correctly, he would swing the hammer down a second 
time and then do a side swing. This is the strongest
hammer attack that Mario can obtain, but it is weaker than the lazy 
shell, which could of been found at this point in the game.
The Ultra Hammer has an attack rating of 70 and can be found in the Gate 
are, on room past the second save point. 

Masher - The game description for the Masher will say 'Makes monster 
mash'. Mario swings the hammer down on the
enemy's head and if you do the timed hit correctly, he will swing the 
hammer down a second time. This exceptional hammer is
Mario's strongest weapon available until you reach Nimbus Land, with an 
attack rating of 50. The Masher can be found in
Booster Tower. 

Nok Nok Shell - The game description for the Nok Nok Shell is 'Kick to 
Attack'. Mario will kick this green Koopa shell at
the enemy and there will be a bunch of small stars that will flash on 
the screen when it hits. If you do a timed hit correctly, you
will see a big start flash on the screen before the small starts. This 
is the second weapon that Mario will receive. This will
improve Mario's attack strength and it will be the first shell attach 
that Mario can use. The Nok Nok Shell has an attack rating
of 20 and is given to Mario after getting to the bottom of Midas River. 
It can also be purchased at Seaside Town Weapon and
Armor Shop for 20 coins. 

Troopa Shell - The game description for the Troopa Shell says 'Kick with 
it'. Mario will kick this red Koopa shell at the
enemy and there will be a bunch of small stars that flash on the screen 
when it hits. if you do a Timed Hit correctly, you will see
a big start flash on he screen before the small stars. The is the second 
shell attack that Mario will have the opportunity of using.
It is equal in strength to the Masher, but is more expensive. The Troopa 
Shell has an attack rating of 50 and can be purchased
at the Seaside Town Weapon and Armor Shop for 90 coins. 

Lazy Shell - The game description for the Lazy Shell says 'Toss a shell 
at an enemy'. Mario will kick a huge red Koopa shell
at the enemy and there will be a bunch of small stars that flash on the 
screen when it hits. If you do the timed hit correctly, will
you see a big star flash on the screen before the small stars. With an 
attack rating of 90, this is the strongest shell attack and the
strongest weapon that Mario can receive. The Lazy Shell can be found by 
climbing the vine created by the Rose Town
Gardener after you have given him the Seed and Fertilizer.

Punch Glove - The game description of the Punch Glove says 'Knock out 
power'. Mario will punch his enemy and if you do
the timed hit correctly, Mario will do an uppercut after the punch. This 
will allow Mario to do an improved punching attack, like
the one he used in the beginning of the game. The punch glove has an 
attack rating of 30 and can be purchased at the Moleville
Item Shop and the Seaside Town and Weapon and Armor Shop for 36 coins. 

Mega Glove - The game description of the Mega Glove says 'Packs a Mega 
wallop'. Mario will punch his enemy and if you
do the timed hit correctly, Mario will do an uppercut after the punch. 
This is the strongest punch attack that Mario can obtain,
with an attack rating of 60. The Mega Glove can be purchased at the 
Nimbus Land Item Shop for 102 coins. 

 

Timed Hits 

Timing a Punch Attack: To perform a Timed Hit when Mario is equipped 
with a glove or no weapon, press the A Button just
before Mario punches the enemy. The attack will consist of two punches: 
a normal punch followed by an uppercut. 

Timing a Hammer Attack: When Mario is equipped with a hammer, wait for 
him to raise the hammer, then press the A
Button again for a Timed Hit. Mario will clock the enemy with the hammer 
twice. 

Timing a Shell Attack: When Mario kicks a shell in the air, press the A 
Button right before he kicks it again to perform a
Timed Hit. 

 

Armor

The Armor below is listed in order of weakest to strongest.

Shirt - This can be purchased at the Mushroom Kingdom Item Shop and the 
Seaside Town Weapons and Armor Shop for
seven coins. It increases Defense and Magic Defense by six points each.

Thick Shirt - This can be purchased at the Rose Town Item Shop and the

Sailor Shirt - This can be purchased at the Seaside Town Weapons and 
Armor Shop, Sea Item Shop, and the Sunken Ship
Salesman for 50 coins. It increases Defense by 30 points and Magic 
Defense by 15 points. 

Fuzzy Shirt - This can be purchased at the Nimbus Land Item shop for 70 
coins. It increases Defense by 36 and Magic
Defense by 18 points. 

Fire Shirt - This can be purchased at the Hino Mart in the Barrel 
Volcano and from Croco in Bowser's Keep for 90 coins. It
increase Defense by 42 points and Magic Defense by 21 points. 

Hero Shirt - This can be purchased from Croco in his second Bowser's 
Keep location for 100 coins. It increases Defense by
48 points and Magic Defense by 24 points. 

Super Jacket - Perhaps the most mysterious item in Super Mario RPG, and 
it is also the hardest item to get! It will be given to
you in Monstro Town if you succeed in doing 100 super jumps in a 
battle(Mario's Super Jump Attack on an enemy, then press
the Y Button just before hitting the opponent to hop on his head again. 
Do this 100 times WITHOUT falling off. Good
luck!)Everyone can equip the Super Jacket. It increases Speed by 30 and 
Attack, Defense, Magic Attack, and Magic Defense
by 50.

Lazy Shell - The Lazy shell Armor can be found in the clouds after 
giving the Gardener in Rose Town the Seed and Fertilizer.
Climb the vine the Gardener grows to late the Treasure Box with the lazy 
shell armor. The Lazy Shell Armor can be equipped
by everyone, but it's a trade off - you lose speed and attack power for 
superior defensive strength. It reduces Speed, Attack
and Magic Attack by 50 points each, but increases Defense and Magic 
Defense by a whopping 127 points each.

Special Attacks

Jump - Use Mario's Jump to stomp foes! This is the first Special attack 
you can use - Mario Starts with it. Push the Y Button
just before hitting the enemy to jump again. The Jump Special Attack 
uses three Flower Points and has a Magic Power rating
of 25. 

Super Jump - Mario's Super Jump is a stronger version of the Jump 
Attack. Push the Y Button prior to hitting the enemy to
bounce again and cause more damage. Mario's Super Jump uses seven Flower 
Points and has a Magic Power rating of 45.
Mario learns Super Jump when he reaches level 6.

Ultra Jump - Mario's Ultra jump is his most powerful Jump Attack. Like 
his other jumps, you can push the Y Button prior to
hitting the enemy to jump repeatedly. Mario's Ultra Jump uses 11 Flower 
Points and has a Magic Power rating of 65. Mario
will learn Ultra Jump when he reaches Level 14. 

Fire Orb - Mario's Fire Orb shoots a small ball of fire at one opponent. 
To shower the enemy with Fire Orbs, push the Y
Button repeatedly. Mario's Fire Orb uses five flower Points and has a 
Magic Power rating of 20. Mario learns this Special
Attack when he reaches Level 3.

Super Flame - Mario's Super Flame shoots large balls of fire at one 
enemy. For a severe fire blast, push the Y Button
repeatedly. Mario's Super Flame uses nine Flower Points and has a Magic 
Power rating of 40. Mario learns the Special attack
when he reaches Level 10.

Ultra Flame - Mario's Ultra Flame Attack shoots huge fire orbs at his 
enemy. Push the Y Button repeatedly to give them a
good scorching! Ultra Flame uses 14 Flower Points and has a Magic Power 
rating of 60. Mario will learn the Special Attack
when he reaches Level 18. 

Mallow

Weapons

Froggie Stick - The game description of the Froggie Stick says 
'Frogfucious made it'. Mallow will swing the stick down on the
enemy's head. If you do the timed hit correctly, he will take a second 
swing at the enemy. This is the first weapon that Mallow
can find and it is also the first stick attack that Mallow will have 
available. Mallow can get it from Frogfucious, at Tadpole
Pond, after he gives him the Cricket Pie. The Froggie Stick has an 
attack rating of 20

Cymbals - The game description for the Cymbals says 'Scare enemies with 
a clash'. Mallow will clap the cymbals together to
do damage to the enemy. If you do the timed hit correctly, he will move 
them apart after the hit to do more damage. This is the
first cymbal attack that Mallow can obtain. The Cymbals have an attack 
rating of 30 and can be purchased at the Moleville
Item Shop and the Seaside Town Weapons and Armor Shop for 42 coins. 

Whomp Glove - 'The old double whammie!' is what the game description 
says about the Whomp Glove. Mallow will hit the
enemy with both hands. If you do the timed hit correctly, Mallow will 
then slam both hands down on the enemy's he3ad. This is
a stronger version of Mallow's punch attack that can be found after you 
entered the Merrymaker area. The Whomp Glove has
an attack rating of 40 and can be purchased at the Merrymaker Inn/Shop, 
the Seaside Town Weapon and Armor Shop, the
Sea Item Shop, and the Sunken Ship Salesman for 72 coins. 

Ribbit Stick - The game description for the Ribbit Stick says 'It'll 
come in handy'. Mallow will swing the stick down on the
enemy's head. if you do the timed hit correctly, he will take a second 
swing at the enemy. This is the strongest of Mallow's stick
attacks, with an attack rating of 50. The Ribbit Stick ban be purchased 
at the Seaside Town Weapons and Armor Shop for 86
coins. 

Sticky Glove - The Sticky Gloves game description says 'Launches a punch 
attack'. Mallow will hit the enemy with both
hands. If you do the timed hit correctly, Mallow will then slam both 
hands down on the enemy's head. this is the strongest
punch attack that Mallow can obtain. the Sticky Glove has an attack 
rating of 60 and can be purchased at the Nimbus Land
Item Shop for 98 coins. 

Sonic Cymbals - The description of the Sonic Cymbal says 'Puts noise to 
work for you!'. Mallow will clap the cymbals
together to do damage to the enemy. If you do the timed hit correctly, 
he will move them apart to do damage to the enemy.
With an attack rating of 70, this is the strongest weapon and the 
strongest cymbal attack that Mallow can find. It can be found
in Bowser's Keep after completing the lava and moving Block Room, which 
is one of the possible rooms that the 6 Big Read
Doors will lead to. 

 

Timed Hits 

Timing a Punch Attack- To perform a Timed Hit when Mallow is equipped 
with a glove or no weapon, press the A Button
just before Mallow punches the enemy. The attack will consist of two 
punches. 

Timing a Punch Attack- When Mallow is equipped with a stick press the A 
Button just before he swings it to perform the
Timed Hit. Mallow will whack his opponent twice. 

Timing a Cymbals Attack- When using cymbals, press the A Button just 
before they clap to perform a Timed Hit. If
performed correctly, the cymbals will open again and cause extra damage 
to the enemy. 

 

Armor 

The armor below is listed in order of weakest to strongest. 

Pants- These can be purchased at the Mushroom Kingdom Item Shop and the 
Seaside Town Weapons and Armor Shop for
seven coins. They increase Defense by six points and Magic Defense by 
three points. 

Thick Pants- These can be purchased at the Rose Town Item Shop and the 
Seaside Town Weapons and Armor Shop for 14
coins. They increase Defense by 12 points and Magic Defense by six 
points. 

Work Pants- These can be purchased at the Rose Town Item Shop and the 
Seaside Town Weapons and Armor Shop for 22
coins. They increase your Speed, Attack and Magic Defense by five 
points, your Attack and Magic Attack by 10 points, and
your Defense by 15 points. 

Mega Pants- These can be purchased at the Moleville Item Shop or the

coins. They increase Defense by 18 points and Magic Defense by nine

Thunderbolt- Mallow starts the adventure with a Special Attack called 
Thunderbolt. Hit the Y Button just before the
Thunderbolt ends to get the best results. Mallow's Thunderbolt uses two 
Flower Points and has a Magic Power rating of 15. 

HP Rain- Mallow's HP Rain is a healing spell. For the most effective Hit 
Point renewal, Hit the Y Button just before the
shower ends. Mallow's HP Rain uses two Flower Points and has a Magic 
Power rating of 10. Mallow learns HP Rain when he
reaches Level 3. 

Psychopath- Mallow's Psychopath will let you see foe's Hit Points and 
secrets! Only one Flower Point is used to cast
Psychopath, which makes it ideal to use at the beginning of major 
battles. Mallow learns this ability when he reaches Level 6. 

Shocker- Shocker is a very powerful version of Mallow's Thunderbolt 
Attack. Don't forget to hit the Y Button just before the
bolt ends to cause extra damage. Mallow's Shocker uses eight Flower 
Points and has a Magic Power rating of 60. Mallow
learns this Special Attack when he reaches Level 10. 

Snowy- Mallow's Snowy Attack will drop a snowman on his foes. Snowy uses 
12 Flower Points and has a Magic Power
rating of 40. Mallow learns Snowy when he reaches Level 14. 

Star Rain- Mallow's Star Rain causes star showers to attack the enemy. 
Press the Y Button just upon contact for maximum
force. Star Rain uses 14 Flower Points and has a Magic Power rating of 
55. Mallow learns Star Rain at Level 18. 

Geno

Weapons

Finger Shot- The game description for the Finger Shot says ‘Fingers 
shoot bullets'. Geno will fire a bunch of pellets at the
enemy and it will make cause a splash of small stars when it hits. If 
you did the timed hit correctly, there a big star shaped flash
will occur before the splash of small stars. This is the first weapon 
that Geno can equip. If you go back and talk to Gaz after
Geno joins your party, Gaz will give you this for free. This is the 
first of gun attacks that Geno will have available to use. The
Finger Shot has an attack rating of 12 and can be purchased at the 
Moleville Item Shop for 50 coins or you can get it for free
from Gaz in the Rose Town Inn. 

Hand Gun- The game description for the Geno's Hand Gun says ‘It packs a 
kick'. Geno will fire a bunch of bullets at the
enemy and it will make cause a splash of small stars when it hits. If 
you did the timed hit correctly, there a big star shaped flash
will occur before the splash of small stars. This is the second gun 
attack that Geno will be able to use in the game. Geno's Hand
Gun has an attack rating of 24 and can be purchased at the Marrymore 
Inn/Shop, the Seaside Town Weapon and Armor
Shop, the Sea Item Shop, and the Sunken Ship Salesman for 75 Coins. 

Double Punch- The game description for Geno's Double Punch says ‘A handy 
double rocket punch'. Geno will launch two
rockets at the enemy and it will make cause a splash of small stars when 
it hits. If you did the timed hit correctly, there a big star
shaped flash will occur before the splash of small stars. This is the 
second punch attack that Geno will be able to use and it will
be one of the easiest of his weapons to get a timed hit with. Geno's 
Double Punch has an attack rating of 35 and can be
purchased at the Seaside Town Weapon and Armor Shop for 88 Coins. 

Hand Cannon- The game description of Geno's Hand Cannon says ‘Shoots 
bullets from elbow!'. Geno will fire a bunch of
large bullets (cannon shells) at the enemy and it will make cause a 
splash of small stars when it hits. If you did the timed hit
correctly, there a big star shaped flash will occur before the splash of 
small stars. This is the third gun attack that Geno can use
and it is the best weapon that can be purchased for him. The only weapon 
that he can use that is stronger than this is the Star
Gun, which can be found behind one of the 6 Big Red Doors in Bowser's 
Keep. Geno's Hand Cannon has an attack rating of
45 and can be purchased at the Nimbus Land Item Shop for 105 Coins. 

Star Gun- The game description of Geno's Star Gun says ‘Try shooting 
stars!'. Geno will fire a bunch of stars at the enemy
and it will make cause a splash of small stars when it hits. If you did 
the timed hit correctly, there a big star shaped flash will
occur before the splash of small stars. This is the fourth gun attack 
that Geno can receive and it is the strongest weapon that is
in the game for Geno. The Star Gun has an attack rating of 57 and can be 
found in Bowser's Keep after completing the Gu
Goomba Fighting Room, which is one of the 6 Big Red Doors there. 

 

Timed Hits 

Timing a Punch Attack: To perform a Timed Hit when Geno is equipped with 
the Double Punch or no weapon, press the A
Button just before Geno punches the enemy. The attack will consist of

Timing a Shot Attack: Timing a Shot Attacks is very similar to timing a

Special Attacks 

Geno Beam- The Geno Beam is the Special Attack that Geno Starts the game 
with. Hold the Y Button until three stars
appear in the lower-right corner of the screen, then let go to shoot. 
The Geno Beam uses three Flower Points and has a Magic
Power rating of 40. 

Geno Boost- Geno can use the Geno Boost on any party member to bring 
that character's Attack Power up. The increase in
Attack Power only lasts during the battle; once the battle ends, the 
character's Attack Power will return to normal. For the
highest power-up, push the Y Button just before the boost ends. Geno 
Boost uses four Flower Points and Geno will learns it at
Level 8. 

Geno Whirl- When using the Geno Whirl Special Attack, press the Y Button 
prior to contact for a critical hit. Geno Whirl
uses eight Flower Points and has a Magic Power rating of 45. Geno learns 
Geno Whirl at Level 11. 

Geno Blast- The Geno Blast hits all the enemies on the screen. Like the 
Geno Beam, you can power the Geno Blast up by
holding the Y Button until three stars appear on the screen. Geno learns 
this Special Attack at Level 14. Geno Blast uses three
Flower Points, and has a Magic Power rating of 50.

Geno Flash- The Geno Flash is a stronger version of the Geno Blast. It 
uses 16 Flower Points, has a Magic Power rating of
60 and is learned at Level 17.
