I.    Review by Dy$e
  Synopsis "Jim is Back!!!"

Earthworm Jim 2 is back and better than ever. The graphics look way better than 
the original, a lot more levels and a lot more fun. Jim looks different in this 
one, and overall everything is just great.

Story

Psycrow has the plan in this one. He is going to marry Princess what's her name 
so he can be king of the Galaxy, because she is in line to be the next queen. 
You must stop him at all cost to thwart his diabolical scheme. This is a little 
different than the save the girl thing, and has cartoon appeal, I liked it.

Graphics

Jim looks a bit cartoonier in this one and so does everything else. The enemies 
look better as well as the Jim sprite. The backgrounds are great and mouth 
watering especially in Level Ate. Graphically the game has improved and looks 
even better than the hard to beat original.

Sound

Some good happy go lucky music accompanies the different stages. This music is 
slightly better than the original as well. The Sound FX is of Jim's different 
guns like his regular shots and homing missiles, things like that. The barking 
of the dogs in the first stage sounds pretty authentic. Overall you couldn't ask 
for better sound.

Game Play

This game is for one player only. You get a password feature in this one a 
welcome change over the original. Jim comes back with a huge arsenal of weapons 
such as: Regular shots, Mega Regular Shots, Ultra Mega Huge Shots, Homing 
missiles, Bubble Gun, and some others, Some of them are great especially the 
mega one's. The levels have stepped up some and are huge. There is even a level 
where Jim is in the ground, and he is equipped with a Sandblaster. You have 
Level Ate where the background is a grill with hamburgers on it you have to jump 
on eggs, and kill flying forks, and bend straws. The bonus stage is different in 
this one, you have a huge marshmallow, Psycrow is stilling all of Peter Puppy's 
puppies!! You have to bounce each pup off of the pillow back into Peter's home; 
if you miss to many Peter turns into a huge monster and chews you up. All of 
this was fun; my only gripe is there should have been more bosses. Most levels 
once you reach the end that's it. There is nothing to do; even the last stage 
doesn't have a boss. 

Overall

A very fun game, at it is challenging. The difficulty is semi-Intermediate, 
which was a step down from the original. These are still 2 great games, and this 
is one of the best games you could get for Genesis. The Replay value is low 
considering there isn't much to do after you beat it, but it is still fun and a 
challenge one wouldn't sneeze at. A few more bosses would have made this game 
perfect. Still fans of the original will get a kick out of this one. That's a 
Dy$e guarantee.

II.    Controls and Game Basics

Button A-Fires the Current weapon indicated in the lower left corner of the 
screen. Pressing activates the snot parachute when airborne.

Button B-Does the head whip.

Button C- Makes Jim jump, and activates the Snot Swing.

D-Pad Makes Jim move around.

Icons

Suit Power 
Each one of these gives Jim's suit and extra 4% on the life meter. These are 
available almost everywhere.

Super Suit Power 
These make your suit power go up to 100% These are semi rare.

Chip Butty 
These make your suit power go up to 200% these are very rare.

Meal Worms 
These are used and found in stages that have the Bonus Games, like Blind Cave 
Sally, and Inflated Head. These are the only two places where meal worms are 
available.

Extra lives 
An extra life Semi Rare item

Stop Watch 
During Lorenzo's Soil these give you 90 seconds on the clock on the upper right 
hand corner of your screen. This is only available during Lorenzo's soil.

Earth Flag
This is one of 3 flag's needed to get a password for that particular level. 
These are not easy to find.

Worm Flag
This is one of 3 flag's needed to get a password for that particular level. 
These are not easy to find.

Jim Flag
This is one of 3 flag's needed to get a password for that particular level. 
These are not easy to find.

Continue Icon
Touch these to activate the continue point just incase you die. There are 
usually 3 to 5 of these per level.

Turbo
It gives you extra speed when using the pocket rocket. This is only used on the 
Flyin' King stage.

Express Lane
Use these to give your self a boost in the right direction during the Flyin' 
King. This item is exclusive to the Flyin' King stage.

Can o' Worms
These are continues, whenever you see one you should pick it up, just in case 
you run out of lives, and were too lazy to get the flags. These are super mega 
ultra rare.

Weapons

Standard Machine Gun Plasma
Gives Jim 250 rounds for his standard Plasma Gun. You can find these anywhere

Mega Plasma
Your mega plasma gun is more powerful than the original one but slower. Each one 
you find is worth 2 rounds of Plasma energy. These aren't too hard to find.

3 Finger gun
This gun shoots in 3 different directions at the same time, and it goes a little 
farther than the standard machine gun. Each one is worth 250 rounds. These are 
semi rare.

Barn Blaster
This blows away anything on the screen. But it packs a mean recoil. Each one is 
worth one round. This gun is super mega ultra rare, you will be lucky to use 
this twice.

Homing Missile

This is my favorite gun. It tracks down the closest enemy and kills it, it's 
also shaped like a house which is pretty funny. These are semi rare, and are 
worth 7 on each pick up.

Bubble gun
This thing is worthless. If you accidentally pick it up unload it and get rid of 
it quick it absolutely does no damage to anybody. There are 10 bubbles per pick 
up. These are rare.

Ammo
Whatever gun you happen to be holding it will reload it. These are semi rare, 
and are always a great find.







III. Walkthrough


-----------------------------
Anything But Tangerines
-----------------------------


First you go right, get the machine gun plasma, and make a left under a ledge 
where all the suit powers are. Then go right and get the Earth Flag. Go back up, 
go right and jump through the tree, and grab the homing missiles. Keep going you 
will see machine gun plasma, now there should be a pigpen. Get in press down and 
take a pig, jump on two platforms, and you will see a pig chute. Over the pig 
chute should be 2 Barn Blasters and a bubble gun ignore them. Put the Pig in the 
chute walk down and press the lever. The pig will slide down and get stuck in 
Bob's Fish bowl. Now go through the water and jump on the next platform, you 
will find a continue. After that jump on the next two ledges and make a left. 
You will find a chair, when you get on this chair Grannies will fall. To get 
pass them do this fast on the first flight, slow then fast on the second, fast 
then slow on the third. 

Jump on the pole and get the suit powers, on the ledge there will be a continue 
spot. After that jump down and go left, you will see a Granny Bonus, if you 
don't want to do it you don't have to. If you do jump on 3 platforms, you will 
see a Light bulb and 3 mega plasmas, go inside the light bulb. This will 
transport you to a another chair. To get pass these grannies, any speed for the 
first floor, slow for the second, fast then slow for the third, fast then slow 
for the fourth, and slow on the fifth. When you get pass that you will see a 
extra life you can get it, but you will have to do that granny routine all over 
again. After you leave you can go back to where the light bulb was at and get 
the 3 mega plasmas. After you get the mega plasmas, come down and go left. You 
will see another continue spot, get it and you will see a small waterfall. Go up 
it and grab the worm flag. When you get up there you should see a can of worms, 
get them then the homing missiles. Jump on another platform then across the 
rope. You will see stardust swirling around Jim. 

Whenever this happens it means that there is a secret close by. Go back across 
the rope, and jump into the wall, a super suit power will be waiting for you. 
Jump down using the snot parachute, to avoid the electric chair. Go left then 
jump on the ledge to your right, keep right and you will receive a 3 finger gun. 
Go back to your left using the snot swing, and you should land on a continue. Go 
down through the hole and you will land in a pigpen, get a pig and put it on the 
balance board. Hurry back and get another one, the pig might fly away. Put the 
other pig with the first pig, the weight will be gone, so you can down the hole. 
Keep right and you will have to "fight" Bob. You do nothing Jim will eat Bob.

Lorenzo's Soil
---------------------------

You only have one gun on this stage with infinite ammo, the sand blaster. First 
go right and shoot the soil blocking the path. Go down and shoot the soil off of 
the wall. Now jump on the ledge, and then jump on the next 2 landings. Jump and 
get the clock. Go left and shoot the soil away, then jump to the continue spot. 
Keep left and shot the soil away to take out the pipe with the steam. Go down 
and left, jumps take the clock. Jump right on the platform. Keeps going up then 
right then shoot the soil off of the pipe. Then snot swing to the left, jump on 
the landing and you will see a worm flag. You the head whip to get the flag. 
Next Snot Swing to the right, jump on the left landing, then to the right 
landing. Now go up to the left and get the continue. There should be a clock 
too, get the clock. Then jump to the right and shoot all the soil it will take a 
while. Then jump on the left platform, you will see a Jim flag, head whip to get 
it. Then shoot away at the soil until you can get on the landing, now shoot 
strait up and grab on to the remaining soil. Now go to the left landing. You 
will have to make a path through the soil, you will see that it branches off in 
two directions. Take the left one, finally jump on the ledge and get the 
continue. Now take a right until you hit a wall, shoot the soil, and jump to 
your left. Shoot all the soil then jump on the landing. Take a right and you 
will see an Earth flag head whip to get it. Then go to the continue, shoot the 
soil above you then jump to the left. Next you snot Swing to the right and get 
the continue. When you go right you will face Pedro Pupa. Don't get too close he 
will try an eat you, he shoots larva at you as well. Simply wait for him o get 
on the little hill and thrash away with the head whip.

Puppy Love part 1.
-------------------------------

Psycrow took Peter Puppy puppies and is throwing out of his window. Jim is armed 
with a huge Marshmallow, when the puppies come out of the window you have to 
bounce them to Peter. After a while he will throw a bomb out whatever you do, DO 
NOT DROP THE BOMB!!! I don't care if you drop 50 puppies and Peter beats the 
crap out of you, you cannot drop the bomb. Bounce the bomb over to Peter, he 
will throw it at Psycrow, and a round will be over. Survive for 3 rounds and 
it's over.

Jim's now a Blind Cave Salamander

New Controls
A/C float
B Shoot

There are arrows on the wall most of the time you can follow them. Head right 
and try your best to avoid the villi on the walls this is your biggest enemy. 
Now float down try your best to get the worm behind the bumpers. These worms 
will be used later you'll see. Then go left then down and get another worm. You 
will have to touch the walls to get the worm, go all the way down to the floor, 
to the continue. Go up ignore the Super Suit Energy because you have to touch 
the villi to get it. Go right and you will see stardust around Jim, head back 
and get the 4 suit powers. Go right, then down and take the worm, then keep 
going down to you hit the floor. Now go up and you will see two directions, if 
you decide on taking easy, you will miss out on 4 worms, taking hard you will 
get them. Now go up, then down you will see a worm flag, you can't get it yet. 
Then float down, right then up. Take a left to get the worm flag. Now go right, 
head up then left, and then follow the path, which will lead you to a big fish, 
with a continue on it. Go up there will be another fork, either way will be 
good, you get the same items for easy and hard. Now go up then left, then right. 
There will be an invisible platform with a continue on it. Now float down, then 
right, and then once pass the wall up. Follow the path, and you will see purple 
velvet ropes, with 3 worms. This will lead you to a game show. There are plenty 
of questions and they are random so to save me from the insanity if finding each 
one I will just post the one's that I got, during this particular play through.

Once you run out of worms the game show is over, after that you go down and play 
a memory game. You have to bounce on bumpers in a certain order. Once you do 
that that's the end of the stage.

The Flyin' King
--------------------------------

Controls:

A Fire

You are on your pocket rocket; there will be a balloon with the word boom! On 
it. The object is to take the balloon to the end of the stage, and you can't 
shoot it unless you want to go back for another one. You go strait mostly 
through out the stage trying to avoid things, like flying pigs and missiles and 
stuff. When you reach the end of the stage there will be a boss simply shoot at 
the balloon and it kills the guy. This is probably the easiest stage in the 
entire game.

Udderly Abducted
----------------------------------

The object is taking the cows to the barns. Go right and a cow will pop out of a 
plant, press down to picks up the cow. Jump over the whole and walk right you 
will send a barn put the cow in it. The barn will milk the cow and raise the 
ladder so you can pass. Get the continue, jump on the ledge and go up, jump on 
the top ledge and take the mega plasma and 3 ammo's. Go down and get the cow, go 
back up then head right. You will see a spaceship, these space ships will try to 
steal your cow, whip them if they start taking it. After a few steps you should 
see another barn, put the cow in it. Now go left then down. Once you're on the 
ground head right, jump over the electric chair, then jump on a platform, snot 
swing to the cow. Get it and jump down. Go left and jump on the platform, then 
jump on another one and go right, until you reach the barn. Put the cow in it, 
and the ladder will be raised. Now jump down on the platform and get the 
continue. Jump down and then take a right, you will notice a huge Bathtub to 
your left, ignore this for now. Go right and you will see a cow take it, it 
should have a fuse on its head you 15 seconds to take it into the bathtub, to 
get rid of the fuse. Now go back up and take a right, until you get to the barn. 
Now go back left and jump down, then go right and jump over the electric chair, 
and the coffin. Jump on the ledge and get the cow, jump down then go left. Then 
jump up on a couple of platforms. Then go right and bring it the barn. Go left 
and jump down the hole. Next go right and jump on a platform. A cow with a fuse 
should be there, quickly go up then jump to the left back to the tub. Now go 
back to the right until you get to the barn. The ladder should be raised. Jump 
to the platform and get the continue, jump over the hole and keep going right. 
Take the cow with the fuse, keep going right and jump down into the tub. Go left 
and jump on the ledges, and go right. Jump up and go right until you see a canon 
put the cow in it. Then you have to snot swing across, to the right. When the 
cow lands bring it to the barn to the right. Next you jump down and go left, go 
past the tub and electric chair, take the cow and bring it to the tub. Now go to 
the left, jump on the ledge and head right, put the cow in the canon and snot 
swing to the right. Put the cow in barn. Now jump down you should see 3 green 
patches, snot swing back and forth, and take the cow that's on the platform. 
Jump down and then go left, put the cow in the tub. Then go left, then jump to 
the right, to you reach a canon, put the cow in it and snot swing to the right. 
Put the cow in the barn and that's it.

Inflated Head
---------------------------

C Inflates
A Deflates

Go up the stairs to the air pump, you will float up get the worm, keep floating 
deflate your head and land on the platform. Take the continue, go back to the 
air pump and inflate again. Go up for a while then deflate and go right you will 
get a Jim Flag, a Chip Butty and a can of worms. Inflate again then in no time 
you will run into Evil the Cat. Deflate your head he will shoot at you twice 
then go back in the hole, quickly inflate again before he returns. Soon you will 
see the Earth Flag get it then you will encounter Evil again, use the deflate 
trick again. Then on your right this time Evil will be there use the deflate 
trick. Then go left through the opening. Deflate and land go to the continue, 
and get the other goodies there as well. Go and inflate, you will see Evil 
flying over your head, to avoid this float left and right, so he can't get a 
clear shot at you. After a while of going up you will reach am extra life, once 
you get it you will run into Evil once more, this time he will be shooting at 
you like he did earlier in this stage. Just use the deflate trick to easily get 
passed him. Finally you will see the light bulb transport go in there. You will 
see a Test of Strength poll that you jump on to activate, although this cost a 
worm every time you do it. I suggest you wait for the cool items before jumping.

ISO 9000
------------------------

First you go right and press down to pick up the Mouse cage. Go right when you 
see the landing jump on it, and get the Earth Flag. Put the mouse cage in the 
circle and walk into the machine. Once your out you will land on a continue, 
touch it and head left. When the file cabinet's door opens jump on it then jump 
over the file cabinet. Do the same for the next 3 file cabinets and jump down. 
Jump over the file cabinet down there, turn the switch off using your head whip, 
so you can get on the boiler without losing energy. Jump on the boiler and snot 
parachute to the ring, grab all the items and run down. Now snot parachute to 
the left, jump down on the boilers and then jump down for the continue. Hit the 
switch jump off another boiler and get the mouse cage. Jump on the boiler go 
right then down. Head left and take the mouse cage to the machine, go in the 
machine. Once out touch the continue and head right, jump on the platform and 
snot swing to the left. Once you are on top of the boiler you have to snot 
parachute to the right and grab the Jim flag. Go back on to the boiler, hit the 
switch, and head back to the bottom. Then snot swing to the boiler then snot 
swing again t the ledge. Head right until you see a file cabinet jump over, when 
it opens it's drawer jump on it then jump to your right keep going right until 
you see a light bulb go in it. When you come out you will see a door with legs 
and a thing with a foot hanging out of it. Pick up the thing with the foot, you 
have to try and trip the door once you do walk in the door and this stage is 
complete.

Puppy Love Part 3

Just Like the first 2 but harder.

Level Ate
-----------------------------

This stage is very strait forward so this one can be easy at times. Your main 
enemy in this stage is the salt shaker. Head right go under the steak, and take 
the homing missiles.  Keep going right and pick up the ammo. You should see 
under a stack of salami an Earth flag, head whip to get it. Keep right and get 
all the ammo. When you come to the grill flip the switch off, walk across and 
take the 3 finger gun. Keep going right jump on the meatballs to avoid the forks 
You should see a continue under the steak tag it, then there will be a ceiling 
with the green stuff on it. Snot swing 4 times when you land you should see a 
small space in between 3 forks and a stack of salami. Snot Parachute into this 
space. This is a secret level called room number 47. There will be forks on the 
ceiling and on the floor try your best to time the fork pattern. There is power 
ups all over this place, if you make it to the end you will be at the end of 
this stage. If you meet an early demise you will be transported back to where 
the 3 forks were. You can't go back in there once you die either. Go right until 
you find a grill with eggs over it, shoot the eggs and jump on them so it will 
be safe to go across. After 3 eggs you will see another grill flip the switch. 
After you get off, you will see 2 ropes, one that has power ups on it, and what 
that doesn't. You have to take the bottom one that doesn't have the power ups. 
You can get to the top one but you have to hit the floor with the forks on it, 
it will propel you to the top. Go all the way across the rope when you land you 
should be near a Worm Flag head whip to get it. Then keep going right and get 
the continue. Now jump up and hit the eggs on the grill, then on the next one 
hit the off switch. When you pass the grills snot swing across the ceiling about 
5 times. You should land on a strip of bacon. Go right to the grill and hit the 
eggs on the grill. You should see the stardust go around Jim. Head back and get 
the ammo. Go across the two grills; go right until you get a Jim flag. Use the 
head whip to get it. There will be a light bulb coming up shortly. When you get 
transported you will be in a pizza box you will have to face Flaming Yawn. He 
will be on a plate and he moves fast, avoid his plate drops. Then eventually he 
will come down and spit fire soon as you see him come down fire away. After a 
while he will die.

See Jim Run
Run Jim Run
---------------------

This is the last stage, you are in a foot race with Psycrow, and you have to 
beat him in order to save the princess. Run strait up the stairs, then grab the 
gun and jump on the platform. You will see a wind mill type thing. Shoot all of 
its blades. After that, jump on the ledge and avoid the bubble gun, jump down 
and keep going. Snot swing across the hole. If you stay ahead of Psycrow you can 
avoid his traps. Jump on the next landing and blast at the wheel. Forget about 
the homing missiles and jump down the stairs. Blow the windmill away and blow 
away the doors, and go up the stairs. Snot Swing across and go down. Jump over 
the hole and keep going, jump over the stairs, then snot swing across the hole, 
you should land on a J. It should propel you onto the stairs. Snot Swing across, 
then blow away the doors. Grab the J so you don't have to use the Snot Swing. Go 
up the stairs and jump down grab the J so you can avoid the bowling balls. Snot 
swing across and you should have gotten to the Princess. When you get their 
Psycrow will catch up, Jim will call a cab to run over Psycrow.
