1. Introduction

Rogue Squadron is the best console (not computer) star wars game
that I have played. It also has the best graphics I've seen for the 64.(if
anyone has played the game with the expansion pack before, please tell me what
it is like). If you are good at Star Fox, You'll probally be good at this. It is
recomended that you have a rumble pack because it is hard to tell if you have
been hit or not. And yes, I have beat all of the levels with the gold metal.

2. Controls

You have a inctrution book, USE IT! If you have rent the game go to
Options, then Controls. Don't forget, pull back to go up and push foward to go
down. Not menchioned in inctrution book: When using bombs or anything guided,
you will first get crosshaires then press agian to fire.
The roll button is useless so don't bother.

3. Ships
When you first start the game you can only use the starting ship
for a given level, so be patient! As you play, more ships can be played on
that level. The rating system is compared to other ships. Speed is how fast
it is when you are pressing the gas. R2D2 Is wether it has one or not.

X-Wing
This is the standard ship for flying. It has 4 blasters, and a torpido port.
During the flight you can close the "S" Foils to increase speed, by doing this
you cannot shoot or be as manuverabile. But you go so fast that you can out run
missles, but you have to shoot sometimes so unless you can loose the
missle on a bulding or some other thing you will get hit eventually because
you have to open the S Foils sometime.

Rating: Place:
Speed Open: 3rd Closed: 2nd
Guns 2nd
Manuverability Open: 3rd Closed: 4th
Shields 2nd
R2D2 Yes
Size 4th (Smallest)
Targeting Comp. 3rd

A-Wing
The A-Wing is the fastest ship of all, though lacking shield strength. It is
somewhat manuverable. This ship is capeable of out running missles. Pick
this if you have trouble catching up with things. The targeting computer
can only help you vertically so you have to aim left and right on your own.

Rating: Place:
Speed 1st
Guns 5th
Manuverability 4th
Shields 4th
R2D2 NO
Size 2nd (Smallest)
Targeting Comp. 5th

Y-Wing
I HATE THE Y-WING!! Because you can only use it on 2 levels and the
intercepters are nearly impossible to kill. This is the slowest, largest,
least manuverabe ship. I see no adventage of this ship other than its shields.
Don't forget that it has ion cannons.

Rating: Place:
Speed 5th
Guns 4th
Manuverability 5th
Shields 1st
R2D2 YES
Size 5th (Smallest)
Targeting comp. Blaster: 4th Ion: 1st

Speeder
This ship can only be played on the levels that have at-at's in it. It is
reasonalibly manuverable and is small. although it has no shields (still
rated as having shields). The tow cable must be fired only when you are next
to the at-at's leg. Use the Right and left brakes often to help you turn.
This can only go up or down at about a 60 degree angle and cannot fly inverted

Rating: Place:
Speed 4th
Guns 3rd
Manuverability 2nd
Shields 5th
R2D2 NO
Size 1st (Smallest)
Targeting Comp. 2nd

V-Wing
This is the best ship in my book because of it's guns and manuverability.
This cannot go past flying verticle. It has a Scram Jet that will go faster
than an A-Wing for about 5 seconds or so, afterward you cannot speed up,
slow down, or turn sharply for about 5 seconds or so. It also has hyper
blasters, they shoot at a incredible rate, destroying most of everything in
one pass makes it a good asset. You have tto keep from burning up your
coolant system or you'll be stranded for a couple seconds untill it cools,
It is a good idea to develop a stradigy of shooting, stop, than shooting
agian to keep from overheating.

Rating: Place:
Speed 2nd
Guns w/out hyper: 5th with hyper: 1st
Manuverability 1st
Shields 3rd
R2D2 NO
Size 3rd (smallest)

Special ships:

Millinium Falcon
This is one large ship that is fast and can take a beating, although the
shooting part takes getting used to. You get 15 missles and the description of
it by pressing C Right is FUNNY! Also remember that the cockpit is on the very
far right of the ship so when you are in cockpit mode the entire ship is on your
left, and there is PLENTY of it.

(These special ships are not included in the rating above but ar still rated as
if they were)

Rating: Place:
Speed 3rd
Guns 2nd
Manuverability 2nd
Shields 2nd
R2D2 NO
Size LARGEST!!
Targeting Comp. BEST!!! (if you can see it you can just about shoot it)

TIE Interceptor
This is that girl who you capture's ship in the Liberation stage. This has NO
shields, 2 blaster hits or 1 missle and you're dead. but on the up side, it is
small, manuverable and has good blasters.

Rating: Place:
Speed 2nd
Guns 1st
Manuverability 2nd
Shields NONE!!

4. Tips on playing.

Most important! Learn to lead your shots because if they are going to your left
and you shoot directly at them, you will miss!! Shoot in fron of them so that by
the time your blaster shot gets to them it will hit them.

Blaster turrets are dumb. if you fly irritacly, it will try to lead its shots
thinking that you will fly straight, but cince you moved back, it will never hit
you.

ALWAYS blow up the missle turrets first, you know why. Also it is very much
possible to shoot the missles themselves before they hit you so don't stop
shooting.

Braking helps you turn faster (exceptions, A-Wing and TIE Intercepter).

If you're a good shot, I recomend that you link your blasters, otherwize leave
them unlinked. Linked blasters do NOT put more fire out.

A tactic that sometimes works well with bombers is to get in front and slow down
and let them pass you so they are close enough to kill easly.

If you kill Storm Troopers they do count to your total kills.

Close your S Foils often to get a boost of speed to help you get metals.

If you have a mission failure and you know you won't make it in 2 lives abort
and go all the way out and go back in to get all of your lives back.

Don't forget that the V-Wing's cluster missle, when homed can kill 5 TIEs at
once.

The V-Wing and the Airspeeder can float the ground: try gently running into the
ground, it won't let you instead it will pull you up and then mimic the ground.

When confronting at-at's fly high so they won't hit you; they never aim up.
Also, when wrapping thier legs, hold down the gas and the brake of the direction
that you are going to speed up the process.

Don't save your missles, use them. Most people don't want to use them because
they are saving them, but they never use them. You get more missles if you die.

5. Walkthrough of levels

Ambush at Mos Eisly

This one is easy, all you have to do is seek and destroy. There is about 5
baddies that the radar don't point you to, find them in order to get a gold
medal. you will know that you found it when R2 does the thing from Empire
Strikes Back teasing luke.

Rendezvous on Barkesh

This is also easy, watch out for 7 tie bombers in all. When you start, go
straight, and kill the at-st's then head back to the convoy. Know when the TIEs
come so that you can destroy everything in that level. On the last strech of the
convoy's journey there are laser turrets to the left. Get those and keep going,
you'll come to a mini base with a at-st and people, destroy everything, and save
all 5 of the convoy ships to get the gold.

The search for the Nonnah

This level Is hard the first few times that you play it. Your first mission is
to find the Nonnah. It is in one of the 3 corners of the level. I suggest that
you first go right and circle around the level untill you find it or they become
under attack. When they are attacked Get the at-st then the tanks first. Then
concetrate on bombers, they will come in paires so look for them on the radar.
Later there will be 3 at-pt's attacking the transport. In order to get gold you
have to get alot of the droids that are hanging around. I reccomend that you
first beat this level then comming back when you have the shield and blaster
upgrades.

Defection on Corillia

This one is straight foward, kill everything. After you save the Tech center,
head back to the main city, but stop at the first little town on your right. In
the center on the very bottom of the streets is the Advanced Photon Torpedo, you
need it for the Gold. Get the bonus when you leave the tech center for the first
time en route to the walker near the big tower.

Liberation of Gerrard V

This one is hard if you don't know what you are doing, so I have come up with a
perfect plan of beating it.

1. Destroy the firs two turrets that are straight foward then go right through
the city.

2. destroy the turret to the left, you will have to brake.

3. Destroy the Missle turret, trying to shoot the missles that it sends that is
straight ahead.

4. follow the dune untill you find the second Turret.

5 Destroy the 3rd that is berely to the left and on the other side of the dune.

6. head back toward the city destorying the laser turret ontop of the building.

7. get the one to the left

8. Get the one to the right. You now have destroyed the turrets in the first
city.

9. As you leave the city get the two at-pt's then go right along the sand dune
that sorrounds the city

10 there are two at-pt's that are heading towars the city. DO NOT LEAVE THE CITY
BEFORE WEDGE TALKS TO YOU!!! If you do they will miss you, get bored and shoot
each other (not really) but they will mysteriously die even though there is
nothing there to shoot them.

11. after wedge talks to you it will always stert you back out at the same place
letting you see how many Y-Wings are left.

12. go straight then a little to your right over the city untill you see the two
big dunes. go between them and shoot the two at-pt's and the missle turret to
the right of them.

13. head dirctly towards the middle of the city ignoring the TIEs (They will
leave you alone) and Shoot the laser turret to the left.

14 then shoot the missle canon that is in the middle of the city.

15 go right and shoot the laser turret

16 find the big brown laser turret and shoot 3 or so torpidoes into it to kill
it.

17 go right and find the missle launcher on top of the ridge

18 turn back around to where you got the big turret and shoot the missle
launcher.

That's it!! get the rest of the at-pt's and there is one laser turret in the
city. spend the rest of the time trying to kill ties, not manditory unless you
need a Gold metal.
